I dont like the smell of Coleman Barracks in the morning, but other than that, I love to smell stuff, too… esp my man. He smells so nice. π
March 22, 2008 at 3:56 pm #680939Yes the smell of weather is awesome. No one here (unless they’ve lived in a cold weather state) believes that you can smell the change when snow is coming. Or how different the air smells on a snowy winter day. And yes I love to smell my horse and cats. My dog always smells like fresh air and sun when he comes in. Unlike the labs. They don’t stink but they smell “doggy” π

Ever smelled Mexican Vanilla, actually from Mexico? When I can get my hands on another bottle, I’ll have to send you a little. It’s totally different than anything I’ve found here, even the Vanillas in the hispanic section of the groccery stores. It’s strong like extract, but it’s pure, so no alcohol. I’m not sure how to describe it, but it has a thicker, warmer smell than regular vanilla. It is AMazing.
My boyfriend and I both have super noses too. I’m almost ashamed to admit, his might be a little more sensitive than mine, because he claims to pick up on scents that I can’t find. We love the peace of night, and we love to drive around with the windows down looking for new scents. Last night, I swear someone was burning jasmine incence because a whole street smelled sweet and flowery and smoky.
Apartments are fun places to sniff too. I deilver pizzas and can usually tell what kind of person will answer the door based on the smell of the laundry detergent they buy (it seems people in apartments are always doing laundry or cooking)
It drives my mom crazy sometimes because sometimes there will be a smell I can detect that she can’t, and usually it’s something unpleasant, so she worries her house smells bad. Our un-neutered male cat, Toby likes to mark his territory, and personally, aside from burning hair, that’s THE worse smell EVER, even above death. Death is a subtle odor (decay-that’s a different story ) and even wet cheese can be cleaned away, but the smell of TOBY will kick you in the head-and we are having a hard time finding anything that will get rid of the odor. There’s this stuff called “Zero” that almost does it, but if he gets to towels or blankets, and you wash them, even in hot water, they come out clean, but when they get wet again, the smell comes back.
But *shudder* something more pleasant-yes, I agree, kitties have a wonderful smell to them ^_^ and horses too, and leather. I also LOVE the smell of cooking hamburger meat (more than I like the taste)
When I get something in the mail, I always smell it. Some Windstones smell like incence-the rainbow male I just got from the lovely SilverArrow and the ruby Riser I got a while back from Magical Omaha both smelled of incence π

Molina vanilla is straight from Mexico. It does smell completely different from the extracts you find in the spice isle at the supermarket. π One whiff takes me straight back to my grandmother’s kitchen, and baking with her. I’d love to smell some of your stuff, though! (Sounds like a drug deal…*lol*)
March 22, 2008 at 9:03 pm #680942cold crisp mornings and the smell of a warm horse. fresh clean sheets and blankets when it’s cold out.Nothing smells better or feels nicer then clean sheets and quilts when the house is cold so you can burrow into them….
fresh lavender, fresh wild mint crushed by my horses hooves when we ride through the woods.
sigh….
I wanna go riding.being broke bites! no gas in the truck or I’d be at the state park lost in the woods till dark.March 22, 2008 at 11:27 pm #680943Cold Kitty & Sleepy Kitty Rules!!! However with the spazz(And all future cats) being indoors only(Especially in Winter) No More Cold Kitty for me. But Sleepy Kitty maybe I’ll get if my Next cat isn’t such a fraidy cat!!
March 23, 2008 at 6:11 pm #680944Huh, this is an interesting thread. π I don’t think I’ve ever really taken my sense of smell that seriously. I love the smell of my horse, and my dog (she actually doesn’t stink! Unless she just rolled in manure. But otherwise she’s really clean) and flowers and candles and certain body care products… π And lately I’ve learned to tell apart motorcycles by their smell. π
