Really! Mother Nature didn’t think it out so well, no? Unlike rain, you need to remove the snow, and to STORE IT! You pile up and up, over the already existing pile, on top of which the extra 30 cm you’re shoveling fell. So you’re throwing snow up a huuuuge pile, that you share with your neighbour on the other side. We can hardly see the trunk of our little tree in the front, the snow pile is so high.
In Ottawa, along one of the bus route, you can see where the city dumps the snow. The pile is so big, it usually hasn’t finished melting in July.
We need compact snow.
The Toronto area got about 40 to 50 cm of snow between yesterday and today. It’s light and fluffy, easy to shovel – and easy to fly in your face if a gust of wind decides to blow at the wrong moment…
We’re gonna have a white Christmas!

Yeah Had that happened to me today while shoveling snow from around my bird feeders. 😆
December 17, 2007 at 4:00 am #647691I just stepped out to get a couple of pics. This is our front walkway. Under all the snow is actually a hedge…
At least they shovel finally.
December 17, 2007 at 4:59 am #647692Regardless of its inconvenience, I think snow is absolutely gorgeous.
I love how soft, muffled and quiet it is while it’s falling and I love the glitter at night when the moon is out.
Even when we get a layer of freezing rain there’s a beauty in the ice covered trees.
December 17, 2007 at 6:01 am #647693I love snow and we never get enough here. I remember one snow storm years ago where it snowed 1meter in 12hrs!! 😀 Then melted over the next 2 days 🙁
December 17, 2007 at 6:16 am #647694I wish I had snow but this part of CA does not get it. When I was in Denver last Jaunary I was scared to have to be in the car driving in the snow though
December 17, 2007 at 6:18 am #647695Aw man, how come everybody has snow who’s supposed to have snow except us?
December 17, 2007 at 8:01 am #647696God I wanna go snowboarding. GB, you better get some snow. If not, we apparently have friends who have plenty and dont want it.
December 17, 2007 at 8:02 am #647697The mountains have snow. No worries about that. It’s just down here in the valley that we don’t have any.
December 17, 2007 at 1:47 pm #647698Sigh….December is just wet mush and the occasional flurry for us….I’d LOOOOOVE some real snow. 🙄

Hey, that looks like my place!
Yes, snow is great. Plus on the smaller side street, we get to keep the whiteness longer; they don’t salt there. When it’s below 6 C, the snow squeaks and crunches. I love it.

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmDecember 17, 2007 at 2:41 pm #647700I took pictures this morning. Our deck is made of 4 inches thick cement, so that should give you an idea how thick the snow is.
This is my vegetable garden in winter. The fence arrives at my waist so basically it is a little over mid- thigh deep.

December 17, 2007 at 4:37 pm #647702Those pictures remind me of Missouri where I grew up – that’s why I retired in Florida. Pictures are great as long as I don’t have to live with the real thing.
