A seemingly weird question, I know. You see, every time I tell my friends or coworkers that I never use tape to mask the edges, they give me a weird look. I use the roller as much as I can, getting as close to the edges as possible, then I take a paintbrush and paint a line along the edge of the ceiling, doorframe, etc.

I mean, if I can paint a neat zebra line on a PYO, I can do a simple line along the ceiling, no?

      Am I the only one?

Considering I have to paint ceilings & walls for 2 rooms, I am gonna cheat & use the tape…too many opportunities to mess up. Though if I wished I could do it the other way, it just takes too long, especially when you are dealing with 3 different colors in the same room.

I used to work for StudentWorks painting and they were too cheap for painters tape, so I kinda had to learn how to not use it. You hold a normal brush at an angle, facing out, will make a perfect line, every time. But it will have a different texture then the roller line, so if I can, I use tape to avoid the differing texture.

When I’m painting a wall, I want to be done as soon as possible. I have too much art to make and not enough time.

I’m amazingly wiggly. My hands are not steady. That’s why Windstones took me weeks to paint!

Everyone…………buy an edging tool. It is so completely the only way to do along ceiling and around the windows. It is the most brillinat invention and saves so much time and mess. I buy mine at the home hardware here but i bet that home depot or Rona would carry them. Anywhere that sells paint supplies really. I will get the exact name of them right now……

I don’t know how to make this a direct link but if ya copy and paste it will work. These are the most brilliant thing and you can attach it to a pole to reach up high to the top of wall easily. I use these all the time and heres a tip…..you have to lift the front taps to load the paint on it…..tap paint off lightly and drop the tabs back down, Check to be sure that there is no paint on the tabs that run along ceiling or window trim as this makes sure you will not have any messy smudges where you do not want them. I always wipe the tabs with a paper towel or cloth to be sure they are paint free.

This will save you huge time. I know I am in canada but I’m sure you can get em in the states too!

        Hope this helps 🙂

Yeah, I use these too, but in weirder corners, they don’t work. However, for the hard to reach places, they’re awesome!
