I mostly collect by type (Spectrals, curlies, coileds and OWs). I like the candlelamps and gargoyles too; aside from that I have a few varied pieces that appealed to me.
I definitely collect by critter – as much as I can afford. I will go after *anything* gryphon (for the most part) and the productions Poad pieces (so far as I just can’t justify going for the ltd. pieces on eBay when I also bid on the gryphons so much)
Anything gryphon- I’m all over it…. as soon as I find out. *winks*

I had to go with the bottom “OTHER” option.
I collect all the dragons in every color. Emperor, Male. Mother, Fledgling, Young, Hatcher and Curl. I have all the first 8 production colors in all the dragons that have been made available in these colors, then I have just added a few things here and thereWhatever calls to me, in whatever color. All curlies, fledglings, and Poads call to me.
And I was making an attempt at getting all of the griffins, but I’ve decided to stop that. I really don’t like them all… though, DANG, I’m lovin’ the momma Beagle griff. That’s somethin’, considering I don’t care much for her overall.My main collection is the dragons in 6 different colors. I want every piece in each of the 6 colors that I collect. I also have a few Griffs, gargoyles, and candle lamps.

I chose other…I have all colors of dragons so far in production,but I collect only 5 in each color that isn’t one of my favorites and 7 in each color I really like. With the exception of Rainbows, I’ll have a Fledgie and a curlie (if I ever get one) and that is all.
When it comes to wizards, I have all of them I wat, with exception to the Large peacock wiz and the peacock cat wiz, both wanted, and can’t afford currently.
Candlelamps are whatever I want, along with gargoyles. I have the original family of Ki-Rin and most of the Unicorns, and Griffins, except the newest griff color in production.
I wish there were to be more orientals, I love them so! I’d have to say they are my favorites of the dragons, the Sun particularly. 😀

I need a bigger house! 😛Mostly, I just collect pieces that call out to me. Except for Poads. I try to get one in every color Melody paints. But otherwise, I only collect certain pieces in certain colors. I try to stay away from big sculpts, cause I have no room for them and they’re most expensive.
I am also on a griffin kick lately… but only buy them in certain colors. I love my Beagle griffin pair! <3I started out critter/color (Western dragons in White, Oriental dragons in Peacock), but when I found my collection was nearly complete I didn’t want to stop! So I’ve shifted to “by one particular sculpt”, at least in part: I want lots of Laps! And also a bit of “as the fancy takes me” — I couldn’t resist the prototype BVP Warriors, so I have one of those, and an Emerald OW, and a male Ki-Rin and a Gothic Uni and a Frog Prince.
I’m starting a new critter/color collection, too — just ordered a Griffin in Black Sunset from a local shop.
So I guess I’m pretty much an “as the whim strikes me” overall — especially since I’m picky and just skip certain sculpts (I don’t have a White hatcher, even though I want “all” the Whites, because I don’t like it) or certain colors (I probably won’t ever buy a Red Fire or Pink Lap, even though I collect Laps, because they’re unappealing to me)!
