When I first started collecting it was just by critter, the hoofers. After I found the forum I branched out some and now I have griffins and dragons. With the hoofers and Griffins I go for the whole families of the colors I like. With the dragons I go for the pieces that call out to me.

I also like to have the whole family`s in a set when it comes to the Griffins, Ki Rin`s and Unicorns.
But there are a also several sculpts that I love, so I strive to get those in each color…like the Poadsβ’β’β’, Curlies, Griffin chicks, Emperor Dragons and Fledies… π
LOL… did you leave anything out? ππ HMMMMM….Actually now that I think of it yeah I did… π I also love the PYO Ki Rins, so eventually I want to have at least one painted by each forum member… π But I know that will probably take me a very long time…. π
Well, if it’s any consolation, you can cross my name off the PYO list — I suck at that sort of thing. So that’ll be one less that you have to worry about collecting. π

I can see me doing that someday, after I’ve collected all the BG dragons I can. π
Branching out into other Windstone critters… π

I wish I could collect all of the colors in the lap dragon sculpt, she’s my favorite. I do collect all the fledgies in all the colors though. They’re somewhat affordable and I can see all the colors!
I’ve seen someone’s collection in one of the Show Your Collection threads, in which they had all the white dragons including the SK and a magi.
That’s totally what I’m going for with the BG color (someday). π
The laps are beautiful. Love the rising specs… love those eyes. Wish the SKs kept those special eyes even for the limited production pieces to match with the colors. I see in the Windstone store that they have “regular” eyes, which, IMO, is disappointing…

The only ‘set’ I collect is trying to acquire the young dragon sculpt in all the colors. So far I have all the retired colors. Since I haven’t seen the young dragon done in special colors and put on Ebay like the bigger sculpts, at least I don’t have to worry about missing any. I’d never be able to afford any Ebay auctions unless I win the lottery. π
Yeah… I drool over those eBay specials. Especially those BG ones with the special paint… *sniffle*
Too bad eBay doesn’t do layaway, and thank god for the stores that do. I’d never have my rising spectral now, or the OW that’ll arrive in a couple of months otherwise… (not to mention the emperor).June 8, 2008 at 4:25 pm #711994I have mostly dragons so far, but that’s just because I started with them first. Now I go mostly by color. I love tons of color. Someday I’d like to have a dragon in every production color scheme Windstone has made, with as little sculpt duplication as possible π If the color is limited like the pink, silver, pearls, etc. then I try to get a curlie in it so I’ll have at least that tiny representation of that shade. Duplication of the curlie sculpt is okay π
With other critters it’s color, too. I’ll eventually have a mixed griff family and I’d like whichever large flap cat I get to be a different color than my small ones. When new colors of hoofers come out I’ll have a varied herd. I even collect wizards this way! π I want a wizard in each color of robe they’ve made so far.
So… I guess all this means in the end is that I’m a picky little collector! π
June 8, 2008 at 7:12 pm #711995I’ve tried to get one of every color, and one of every style. I still don’t have the Emperor or the SK, but I figure the SK is a dream for a while. I also don’t plan on getting any of the one of a kind or really limited colors they only put on Ebay. After that, whatever calls to me that I really want. If I already have like the rainbow mother, but I saw the rainbow curl, I just had to have it. Sometimes it’s the way the colors are done that they appear to almost be a completely different color. Needless to say, I’m an addict.
June 8, 2008 at 7:41 pm #711996“Combination” for me. I started trying to get all the dragons in Peacock. Just missing the hatching kinglet and SK (which I’m saving up for). But I’m trying to get all the curls in all the colours and then it goes to the sculpts I like. I love the flappers and am finally getting the big B & W one (it’s in the mail). Love oriental anythings… My collection is a hodge podge of stuff. I’ve gotten so many more, that I really should update the show your collection pics.
June 8, 2008 at 8:25 pm #711997I collect a combination. I collect the white dragon line. I’m only missing the sk right now. I also collect by sculpt with the lap dragon and the fledgies. Beyond that it is what takes my fancy.
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
June 8, 2008 at 10:40 pm #711998I collect what calls out to me, which, surprisingly, isn’t much! I tend to collect two of each sculpt in two colors I like, and call it a day. Since there are so many sculpts I don’t particularly like in their current colors, it would take a pretty snazzy new color (on e-bay, probably π ) to make me buy one. This is probably why my collection has stayed in the low twenties. I don’t go for color or sculpt, I just go for what draws me.
P.S. Jasmine, congrats on the Flapper!
June 8, 2008 at 11:35 pm #711999I collect what calls to me and what I can afford/have room for. Since I don’t have my own place (let alone the cost), I could never collect all of the old warriors and lap dragons in all production colors, so I coordinate them. This works well, since some colors I like a color better on one sculpt more than the other. This works well with the larger pieces and I just balance from there. The smaller ones I’ll get all of the production ones if I can (like the hatchlings or the little curled dragons). Beyond that, it really depends on what calls to me that I can afford.
June 8, 2008 at 11:39 pm #712000I would collect more if I could, it’s kinda whatever I decide I want that’s a price I can afford. If I can get either black-gold, old peacock or rainbow then, well…. π
June 9, 2008 at 12:04 am #712001I guess I’m another of the combo folks; I started out by critter (dragon) and color (Peacock) and then shifted to Em Pea, and have now added the Sunset Griffins mom and male. I stopped short of going for all the sculpts in any one color. I wouldn’t turn down the hatching royalty in Peacock if a good deal showed up, but I’m not actively hunting them down. And the smaller dragons like the coils and curls just don’t do anything for me. *shrug*
The griffin adults caught my eye in the Sunset color, but I’m not a huge fan of the chicks.
And I’ve added a PYO Kirin and 2 PYO griffins to the mix. π One griff is finished, but I’m debating painting him white again and starting over….and the other 2 PYO’s are as yet untouched. πJune 9, 2008 at 12:20 am #712002I noticed in my collection I have more of the peacocks than any other color, so I suppose I am a bit biased to one color…but I dont really collect it specifically. π π
