On the tape recorder, it’s generally not allowed as evidence in court unless the tape was made with prior knowledge of being recorded–you’d have to set it on the table, and then he most assuredly won’t say the same things he’d otherwise feel free to say.And I wouldn’t bring up the ambulance call event at that meeting, since that wasn’t connected with you; and they are aware of his being reported for it. If she brings it up in context, fine, but don’t you do it first. It’s just another nail in his career coffin. Stick to your issue, and try to keep your cool. If you lose it, you will be branded an “emotional B*tch” which will not help your case. Be calm, cool, collected and above all polite and “respectful”. Yeah, I KNOW that’s a tall order, but you MUST stay focused. I have been working in a “non-traditional field” now for over 25 years. (when I am working, that is…. 😳 )
If you work in a male dominated field, there will ALWAYS be some amount of latent sexism. You just need to pick what you’ll be totally offended by and what you can more or less let slide. Sad, but true.In all my years, there have only been 2 guys that got me SO very pissed off that in one case I walked out of the room and slammed the door hard enough to crack wired safety glass, and in the other case I was furious to the point of tears and left the room to go compose myself. And I have one *very* bad temper; always have. But I’ve learned how to pick my battles, and how to practice diplomacy, even if it damn near kills me. Hard lesson, but a necessary one. I’ve chewed the insides of my cheeks to bloody shreds more than once trying to hang on to my patience and temper.

What he’s doing is creating a hostile work environment between the various types of harassment he’s dishing out. He’s a liability to the company, who can get sued for HIS actions because he was allowed to continue. YES, document everything. YES, get witnesses if you can. YES, get signatures from those witnesses. You might not legally be allowed to tape record him without his knowledge, but you are allowed to record what is happening and what you and he are saying in a notepad. Make sure you date each entry and sign them. If there’s a witness, have them date and sign the page, too.

Just as Tasgrs said, He’s the Richard here…The better you appear composed and thoughtful of other’s feelings, the better off you will be in the end. Also, with men (As I have noted so far in my life) they tend to lose even more of their cool when you are at your coolest. 8) Make him look like the bunghole he is!!! 😆 Sounds like soon enough he will bury himself anyway. Time for a change…I usually update it after each one now, but I’ve been slacking on the PC time. 😳As I read all that you’re going through–what a freakin’ headache! 🙄 Man oh man, makes me glad I’m laid off–at least it was an absolute cut! Well, today is SUPPOSED to be the big day. I’m just waiting to get called to the office. 👿
I’ve actually never even met this manager, (she also just started and was here for 2 days before she want on vacation) so I have no clue what to expect and I already feel weird because this is probably a not so good first impression (causing issues right off the bat) but the other 2 who he’s been harassing me said they have no problem also giving statements. It just sucks that neither one of them are here today! GAH! I’m getting all nerved up and full of butterflies. I always forget all the pertanent details when I’m not all pissed off after it JUST happened. Now that I’ve had time to cool off, I know I’m going to forget what to say and make myself look like an idiot. I keep rehersing everything at my desk like a dummy.
I saw some “high ups” in the office earlier with the girl who was the witness and the manager so I know they already have his side of the story. Now I’m nervous that they’re already against me.
He’s been with the company a long time and though I found out he’s been bumped to about 16 ot 17 locations, he’s still here for a reason.

BAKAYARO!!!!! :shout: 😡 JERK, JERK, JERK, WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JERK!! *goes on massive derogatory cussing spree* What an egotistic, chauvinistic pig! Geeze, I thought that my sister’s power tripping manager was bad, but this guy is like 5x worse. He creates a hostile environment, spouts derogatory sexist phrases, and has a thought process that I don’t even want to try to understand. I am so sorry that you had to put up with that crap drag0nfeathers. I hope the meeting goes well. Wish you luck! Ganbatte! I hope he gets fired or at least demoted. 👿 Let us know how everything went.
