I’m actually pretty happy about it 😀 I’ve been being INSUFFERABLE at work and honestly probably have deserved to have been fired the past few conversations I have had with managment. I have been angry and miserable and wanting to quit every day when I walk in the door! (and it shows) Frankly I have made a few smart ass remarks that made me think I would have gotten a one way ticket out the door, but so far no luck. LOL!
(short story of my angst) I never got my raise for becoming a Kitchen Designer at Home Depot over a year ago and the more and more work they pile on me, the angrier and more bitter about it I got. I’m about $4.00 an hour underpaid as compared to other designers and on top of that (since I’m artistic) I do 100% of all the signs in the store as well. Every 2 minutes “Mandy I need a sign, Mandy can you make a sign, Mandy I need a powerpoint presentation, Mandy I need this 8 foot piece of plywood to say blah blah blah! GAH!” :shout:
Since we cut our second designer about 4 months ago, I have been left alone to do the entire work load, all the signs, plus the job of other associates they have fired and not replaced because of hour cuts in Applainces.
Well, after griping about not getting paid what I’m SUPPOSED to be getting paid and basically having a “snapping episode” about 3 times a week, they finally dropped me back to my old position. YES! A whole lot less responcibility and the same pay I’ve been at anyway since I never got my raise.
I got pulled into the office and when I came in there was a female manager you don’t see too often sicne she’s Ops (which is always running around the register areas). When that happens… when you know you are in the office, with a female witness for one of two reasons. One, you are a shoplifter (which obviously wasn’t the case) or two, you’re getting fired!
So my manager Dave sits me down. He’s one of those managers who are so overly cheerful it makes you kind of want to barf sometimes. He’s actually an okay guy though, but anyway. He looked very mournful and says “Do you know what I may have called you in here today?” Then I looked at Danika, our female manager and she says in a pissed off tone “No Dave, I know she MUST know why she is in here! You don’t even have to ask…. DOES HE MANDY!?!?” looking at me all pissed off.
***so now I’m brewing, okay am I getting fired??? Do they think I stole something??? I haven’t gotten any write ups… don’t the have to write me up first before they can fire me??? I wonder if I can collect if I get fired with no write ups for whatever I’m getting fired for??? *** ponder ponder ***
(now this is how I have been lately because I have been WAY OVERWORKED and Dave, above evreyone else, knew that because HE was the one giving me MOST of the extra work)
SO I’m like “Well, either you’re firing me because of my sh*tty attitude or you’ll finally getting me the hell out of Kitchen Design… either way I’m happy with the decision………….. of course, it could be three, you’re finally going to me a big fat raise and the vacation I deserve for busting my ass over there, but somehow I doubt that’s the case”
(OMG… looking back on it, I should have gotten fired there) 😆
Anyway, they both busted out laughing (luckilly the management team has develpoed to like my angry wit)
So yea, I finally am going back to my old position and they’re giving Kitchen Design back to the senior designer who they took it away from before. I’m actually really happy, she has been a wreck and has been wanting her job back so bad and I have been screaming “GIVE IT BACK TO HER” for months now. THEY FINALLY LISTENED!
Ah………………. I feel like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. We have SO MUCH STUPID little forms and papers and tracking tools that we have to deal with it’s crazy. Measures, leads, prospects, sales goals, Sales per hour, ESPs, install goals and a TON of other crap *throws papers in the air* THAT I DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYMORE!!!! BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Hmmm… being a complete wrech, but still being so useful they can’t afford to fire you because you can do the work of 5 people. Yet this only works IF you have a piss poor attitude while doing it and all still get’s done on time and correctly… while ALSO maintaining that delicate balance of being a complete b*tch yet customers still going out of their way to tell management you’re plesant and wonderful to work with! LOL! 😆 😆 😆

You’re supposed to get a little thank you for every 5 years of full-time service. I just made my 10 years at the beginning of the month, and I got nothing. I’ve actually been with them for 13 years, but they don’t care about part-timers, so those first 3 years don’t count for anything. Plus, I’m out of raises, so I’ve got so much to look forward to. oh joy…
I won’t start a rant here; I’ll save it for The Wailing Wall when I finally explode one day. 👿 😈

I can totally relate! I’m starting to be an old b*tch myself at my job–that’s why I created the Wailing Wall–just get it off your chest! I know some people would think we should be happy even to have a job, but I’m getting sick and tired of these @sshole employers who take advantage of that and think they have everyone between the cheeks of their bum! 👿 I started not to care as much anymore and believe me, I feel so relived—not as stressed and I’m a lot happier! Sounds crazy but true so I can relate! 😆

I have to say that I smiled reading the first paragraph and by the END of your descriptive text, I was laughing out loud. You tell one heck of a story, it was entertaining and full of suspense – I was on the edge of my seat. And I can’t believe those IDIOTS didn’t fire you ROFLMAO!!
They were very lucky that you took on the work of so many people and put up with their politics all the while, and now you are back where you want to be, for the compensation you are getting. Good luck to you, and hang in there. Sounds like you deserve so much more, one day I hope you get it.
