Nambroth is going to have one huge clean up in the morning 9__9 Ugh… wtf.
Spam from the same one person in every single thread. Why is it lately all this spam is happening? I’ve never seen it happen until recently (past several months).No kidding, Kujacker. The thing I don’t get is, what’s the point? 😕 It’s not like we’re all gonna click on every single porn-titled thread. Now if he’d spammed something about dragons…
This guy doesn’t even make sense. If I was going to put this much work into something, I would at least TRY to make it look legit. That’s one thing I just don’t get about spammers. At least with phishing, they are trying to accomplish something (steal your money or identity) but this just diesnt do anything. A lot of work for the spammer with probably zero profit from it.
As well as cleaning this up can Jen do anything about getting him off the air, for good? This is just way to early for this…..
All I can say about it being early, at least my daughter’s at school and not reading over my shoulder! 😀 So glad I don’t have to try and explain some of those titles. :puke: must admit I don’t understand a few myself- pink baby urine?
I stumbled upon the offending posts just this morning — very surreal. :puke:
I’ve noticed that the Windstone forums have been accumulating a ton of fake members recently, though I don’t know if this has this always been a problem. :scratch:
I waved the magic wand and he is no more. I always ban obvious spammers, so he cannot come back, at least from that IP address. I’m sorry that you guys saw some of that before I nuked it.
I also really appreciate it that you guys ‘flag’ problems for me. It makes them much easier to locate when it is more than one user doing it! This time it was just one person.
Unfortunately forum spammers are an increasing way of life across all boards. The only way to stop them all is for me to manually approve each new account, which can turn legitimate members away. I’ve been trying to decide if it’s worth it or not…! I will wait and see how it goes for a few months first I think.

No problem. I’m going to be more diligent from now on and cross-reference new members that finish singing up every morning when I check the forum to try and keep this from happening much. I can’t be on all the time and sometimes a spammer will post immediately after signing up (and if that’s at 3am or something I can’t catch it). But, I will be more vigilant!
Some spam is harmless, like the person trying to sell Russian shelving..!! For that type of spam, just ‘flag’ the post by clicking the ‘report this post’ button on the post (it looks like a Yield sign with a RED exclamation mark, up next to the ‘quote’ button) and I will take care of it.
For offensive spam like this last guy, please email me directly as that is the fastest way to get in contact with me. nambroth ((AT)) gmail.com
