For the first time since God only knows how long (has to be anywhere from 5-7 years) we put up a Christmas tree and decorated it last night!! It’s beautiful- lots of purple lights, purple trimmings, and purple ornaments….with some burnt orange UT Longhorn stuff in there as well. It looks beeeaaautyful- and this is also the year I realized I could drop $100 on ornaments and barely bat an eyelash. I HAD FUN shopping for chirstmas tree stuff!!!!!
As to religious…I’m semi-religious but don’t go to church. Husband was raised Baptist so for Christmas this entails spending time with all local good friends and family members, baking/cooking A LOT, Christmas shopping, and enjoying the Christmas lights. It’s a great time of the year- so bright and twinkly!
December 3, 2006 at 5:32 pm #513506Decorating the Christmas tree is awesome. I always do mine – and my whole room – on my first five unbooked hours after Thanksgiving. The puppy moved out of my room and downstairs so she can’t break any balls or spread the gold lametta around. Does anybody have problems with their cats eating lametta? I’ve heard it’s not uncommon.
December 3, 2006 at 7:25 pm #513507Purple and gold!!! Currently its in the Jeep, but I will get it up soon. I have silver and blue too, and red and gold. I switch every year between the 3. Christmas is always a fun time of year!
December 3, 2006 at 7:44 pm #513508Nice color schemes, WSC. I use the classic red, green and gold in my room, but the deco outside my door is blue and silver. I have more deco for Christmas than any time of year, and I decorate for every season. If I get any more deco I’ll be out of drawer space!

Well, not really. I just get VERY annoyed at the stupid, bad, pop singer Christmas music that takes over the radio. There are hundreds of amazingly good Christmas songs for choir, traditional and new, and every single one of them so much better than some wanna-be wailing their version of Little Drummer Boy, but they NEVER play the real Christmas music, just the Britney Spears mangled version. Ugh.
I HATE HATE HATE HATE Christmas music. HATE it. Lord, if I hear “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” one more time… I think I might just go shoot someone.
No offence. But MAN. This is the time of year when sitting in coffee shops becomes painful–and that’s just not very nice at all!
On another note, I agree, Händel is a lot of fun to play!

*quickly hides Christmas CDs, handgun and watergun from Chessie* 😀
December 4, 2006 at 2:40 am #513511I kinda like Christmas music… 🙄
December 4, 2006 at 3:51 am #513512I LOVE Christmas music- faavorites are “Little Drummer Boy” and “Do you see what I see”- I can listen to the second one over and over an over again!
December 4, 2006 at 4:04 am #513513I like regular Christmas music too…but like Spark noted, they have the tortured versions of the classic Christmas carols, which I don’t like. The supermarket that I was in today was playing those…yuck…
December 4, 2006 at 4:16 am #513514I prefer records…as in large flat black vinyl discs…I swiped them from my mom- along with Petula Clark 😀
December 4, 2006 at 4:26 am #513515OMG — you actually still have a…record player? 😯

those songs are cool….but I agree with chessie….
some of the music out there is kind of scary….and should be destroyed…we were in wally world tonight and they had some funky something, dying man screeching about a christmas tree garbled pretend music whatever….playing, and anthony was trying to find the off switch to the radio that was playing it…..
I seriously needed some advil after that….
December 4, 2006 at 6:45 am #513519Right, that’s what I meant–the carols that are horrendously abused, drawn and quartered. The real ones are ok… Silent Night is one of my favorites–but I still can’t stand listening to it over and over and over again.
What’shisname, the guy who did the Charlie Brown music, has some decent Christmas songs.
