Bwuahahahaha!! Definately SSDD. I get the same way. If I didn’t own the books I couldn’t tell you what the titles were on the Koontz and Saul books. 🙄
Damn, yeah, From a Buick 8 was a bit on the weird side, but good. Usually it isn’t science fiction he writes so I don’t think he did too bad. 🙂
How about “Rainy Season”? Or “Everything’s eventual”? I have the desktop from SK’s F13 disc on my computer that looks like Dinky’s Dayboard. 😆“Late lastnight, and the night before,
Tommyknockers Tommyknockers, Knocking at the door.
I want to go out, don’t know if I can,
Because, I’m so afraid of the Tommyknocker Man.” 😆May 16, 2008 at 11:00 pm #702223WindstoneCollector wrote:I had issues with the toilet and sink for about a month after reading the Moving Finger. I couldn’t go in there wihtout opening the lid and looking into the bowl first. 😛 Or stand at the sink without looking into the drain(Yes, it is missing the plug mechanism).
I STILL do that!! That one creeped me out!!! I used to really love King, but the newer books just didn’t do it for me. Anyone see 1408? it wasn’t true to the book, but still pretty cool. I have Rose Red and the Diary of Ellen Rimbauer on DVD too, Really long, but loved them! I more read Koontz now.
May 17, 2008 at 11:18 pm #702224I really liked Rose Red. I haven’t watched Kingdom Hospital yet. Bf doesn’t really like horrors so I’ll have to watch it by myself.
I found Koontz to be a little predictable. He always has a strong female character who gets into trouble and a male character who is either ex-army, ex-marine or ex something so he knows weapons and combat and the two clash but end up rescuing each other… 😆
May 17, 2008 at 11:58 pm #702225Kingdom Hospital was really good. That’s funny you say that, because I thought that King’s books had become very predictable!! Have you ever read The Taking? that one was great!
May 18, 2008 at 12:39 am #702226Well, had to go to the mall this afternoon to get my hair done, and (Of Course! 😀 ) predictably hit the bookstore while I was there. Hey, I was multitasking, okay? 😆 😉 And while I was browsing, I found Duma Key, which I haven’t read yet, and replaced my copy of Skeleton Crew which I’d literally read to tatters. So, if I drop off the face of the planet for a few days, nobody panic. It’ll just mean the book was good. 😆
I actually behaved myself to a fair degree, and didn’t walk outta there with 43 books in a bag. 😯I *know* there were a couple of Saul books that I really liked, and dadgummit! I can’t for the everlovin’ life of me remember what their titles were. I probably should’ve looked at those too while I was there and refreshed my memory. 😳 *smacks self in forehead* D’OH!
I’m really tempted to grab The Mist on dvd. I saw the trailers for it and thought it looked like it would’ve made the translation from book to flick pretty well. The only thing I question, though, is how do you fill in the gaps to get a 90 minute movie out of a novella? As a rule, I don’t go to see the horror movies in the theater, because they are nearly always predictable and pretty dumb overall. yup, I’m gonna run right back into that house where some chainsaw wielding freak has just turned my buddies into prime cuts, without any weapon of any kind in my hand……..yeah, right. 😉 😆 But I can sit here in the living room and yell smart assed remarks at the tv, sure! Why not?May 18, 2008 at 1:08 am #702227Oh, a Stephen King thread disguised in a “Hidden” auctions thread. My favorite Stephen King novel is the Talisman (not sure if it counts as it was co-written with Peter Straub).
And tasgrs, the Mist was a decent movie (IMO). Not great, but entertaining. But then, I enjoy Frank Darabont’s adaptions of Stephen King novels (although, the movie isn’t even in the same league as Shawshank).
May 18, 2008 at 1:27 am #702228It actually *did* start out as a thread about hidden auctions, but we kinda got sidetracked. 😆 It’s interesting to see how many Stephen King fans we’ve got. I know I was surprised.
The Talisman was a good book. King likes to bring mentions of the parallel worlds into a lot of his stuff. Did anyone read Black House?

Ofcourse! 1408 was really good, but you’re right, not true to the story really.
I begged my dad for the Kingdom Hospital set and got it for X-mas. It’s great!
I particularly liked The Mist. But then again I thought the lead guy was HOT! 😆 (Same guy in Dreamcatcher…You know, the one with the “Gun phone”. LOL
Yes, I also liked the Talisman, and yes, I have read Black House. It wasn’t as good as Talisman, but it wasn’t too bad either. I need to re-read it. I am curently working on Insomnia (Ralph just got done Kicking Atropos’s butt! And now he’s in the court of the Crimson King.Yay Ralph!! 😀 But, I already know how the story goes. 😉 ), and then I am on to Duma Key. I haven’t had the time to read like I like to since I have been painting like crazy! 😯 But, a break will come. 😉
I might be able to tell you the titles of the Saul books you liked if you tell me a breif description of them. That is if you don’t know the titles already. I have quite a few of his books. Ebay is wicked good for more than Windstones! 😆 (Although I did pay $60 for my copy of Twilight Eyes in HC. 😯 )
May 18, 2008 at 9:54 am #702230Fushing feef! 😆 😉
I loved Kingdom Hospital. All that black humor and Andrew McCarthy, too. Antseluteley delish!
May 18, 2008 at 4:16 pm #702231i just found the 1st printing of needful things hardback in my attic while getting stuff for the yard sale jacket and all 🙂
May 18, 2008 at 7:28 pm #702232I forgot all about Needful Things….I haven’t read that one in ages. You haven’t either, apparently. 😆
May 18, 2008 at 11:24 pm #702233Wow, I don’t remember when I last read that one; I haven’t seen my copy in ages……of course, I haven’t looked for it, either. 😉
May 19, 2008 at 6:14 am #702234Wasn’t a big fan of that one or of Storm of the Century. I’d have to say my fav is still The Stand.
May 23, 2008 at 5:25 am #702235Yes this a good thing for some buyers and a bad thing for sellers.
Been doing this for years on Ebay and have found many great deals.
Few years back my husband found an Appleman Taxi cookie jar and picked it up for under 100.00 which is a super price.
I havent done this for the windstones yet because I really dont know the full names or what I am interested in yet.
Once I get going,
