Oh man…I needed that laugh! I’ve been soo sick, and that definately got a rather weird sounding laugh out of me….much like a goose being strangled. 😆 😆 😆
May 14, 2008 at 9:15 pm #702544If you want to take a plane trip to get there SE FL has some great beaches
May 14, 2008 at 9:48 pm #702545You could always visit the Beach at the Indiana State Dunes. Our water is fresh from Lake Michigan. 😆 Although actually if you ever get a chance you should visit it. It’s unlike anywhere else and I’ve been to beaches on both the east and west coasts. Although, I would wait a few weeks until it warms up just a bit more. Makes me want to go swimming.

Starfish! (bf calls them Sea Stars) there were lot of them, unfortunately I had to limit my pictures, my memory cards are crappy.
Seagull nest and eggs!…Momma kept flying around us, she was a very good momma, got right back in the nest when we left.

May 14, 2008 at 11:21 pm #702549Great pictures, Leigha! I didn’t know seagull eggs looked like that. And I haven’t seen a starfish that large in years! When I was a teenager my friend took me to a beach, I forget where. I found a starfish on a rock, pried it off, and carried it with me everywhere, saying I was going to take it home. The poor thing kept waving its suction tentacles everywhere trying to grab a rock. In hindsight I feel sorry for it. My friend finally convinced me (after telling her mother what I had planned to do) 😆 to let it go, so I released it. For my next birthday, my friend bought me a starfish paperweight. She said I couldn’t have the real thing, but I can have something close! 😆

But we’re moving and I won’t get to see these people any more! More important than calculus.May 16, 2008 at 3:15 am #702551Chessapeaka wrote:Melody wrote:Chessapeaka wrote:We’re planning to go to the beach tomorrow, and I have no idea what beach to go to! May 16, 2008 at 4:04 am #702552So! We ended up going to Newport beach! Sadly, we didn’t bring the camera, but it was an absolute blast. The first item on the agenda was for me to buy a bathing suit, since I didn’t have one. We wandered around a few ocean side shops, got some sandwiches, and admired all the characteristic houses (there really isn’t anything quite like beach architecture). As soon as we got that out of the way, we ran down to the water… it was freezing at first, but not too hard to get used to. Lots of nice waves to be knocked over by.
After a while, the boys decided to start digging a ditch, as per tradition. My friend Kati (who is also on the forum somewhere) and I stayed in the water just long enough for a jellyfish to wash up onto the sand next to us… At that point, the water didn’t seem *quite* so friendly any more. Eventually the ditch got bigger and we decided to turn it into a hot tub, which was only half-successful, but still exciting.
What was probably the best part, however, was the dolphins. There was a whole pod that came RIGHT UP to the beach, so close that if we were in the water, we might have been able to touch them. We’re pretty sure they were mating, since they apparently come up close when it’s time. I wish now that we’d had a camera!
