Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!October 11, 2010 at 11:59 pm #828627Hi everyone,
I stumbled upon this site a few months ago and had forgotten that it was in my bookmarks until a few days ago.
I’d just like to start off by saying that when I was a little girl (maybe 10 or 11), my mother used to take me to the toy store at a local marketplace once in a while. This was a special toy store – one half was truly kid’s stuff with stickers and bouncy balls – and the other half was collectables like windchimes and little crystal statues. Well, every time we went there I would go (very carefully) over to the “delicate” side of the store and look around at all of the beautiful things and it has stuck in my mind for almost 18 years now that there were these gorgeous dragons in the windows that I would just pine for. I would make sure to take the tiny folding brochure home with me so that even if I couldn’t have the dragons for myself, I would always have the pictures of them. I remembered the artists name all these years, and I’m sure by now you’ve guessed it, but M. Pena never left my mind, and I’m thrilled to have found this website. It’s honestly like revisiting fond childhood memories.
Since that little girl I once was grew up, I have become an artist in my own right, working mostly with acryllic paints and the occasional Borosilicate glass, but still I never forgot the magic that those dragons gave me when I looked at them through the glass of the store front window. For that, I’d like to thank the artist that added to the ever-growing spark of imagination that I was tending so many years ago.
I’m also thrilled to see the Paint Your Own versions of these masterpieces! I definitely can’t wait to get my hands on one of those. I do have one question though, and I swear I’ve looked around but I didn’t see the answer anywhere, and I’m terribly sorry if it’s something that gets answered all the time and I’m simply blind, but how often do the Paint Your Own versions get cast? I’m looking mostly for the Keeper (as I’ve seen is most everyone’s favorite), but I’m also in love with the Kirin and the smaller Dragon.
In any case, thanks for making it through my little introduction/rant here! I’m sure I’ll be seeing you all around 🙂

The Paint Your Own pieces pop up every now and then, you just have to keep checking back when you get a chance!
I was the same way in my teens! I had a little brochure with the Grimalkin on the cover until one day I got my hands on one, and it has been one of my favorite pieces of art ever since (that was about 10 years ago!).October 12, 2010 at 12:23 am #828629AnonymousHello, and Welcome!
You really have to check the store daily for the PYO’s… They seem to be coming out in larger batches lately, but they sell out so fast!!
Good luck! 🙂October 12, 2010 at 1:55 am #828630Hello there! I see we won’t need to do too much prodding to “enable” your addiction! 😀
And yes, the statues seem to be coming out in random batches, you’ll have to check quite often for them.

Your story sounds like mine… there was a little store in our local mall that had toys in one side, and crystals/statues/new-agey stuff in the other. I used to stare at the dragons when I was all of 10 or 12 years old, thinking they were the neatest things ever!
