I am new to this group, but not new to Windstone Editions. I first saw the beautiful statues in my step-mother’s home. I have always been a big fan of fantasy and mythology, and I would just love looking at how she had arranged little scenes with her various sculptures. The ones that stick out most in my mind are the family of dragons; there was one for Dad (Male Dragon in Brown), one for her (Mother Dragon in Brown), one for my step-brother (Young Dragon in Emerald) and when my half-sister came along there was a Hatching Dragon in Emerald. She had the Hatching Pegasus too.
I fell in love with them, but I was young enough to see having any of my own as an impossible dream. I would pick up the brochures in stores that carried them (Solvang was a favorite location) but never thought I could get one of my own.
Fast forward several years to my current adult state where I have a job and I actually have money! I had forgotten about these beautiful statues to some degree because I had become so inured to seeing them around the house, they didn’t register, and the shop in Solvang is no longer there, and I somehow never thought to look online. Well, earlier this month (May) we went on a family vacation to Lake Arrowhead, and on a visit to the Village, entered a shop that carried SO MANY WINDSTONE STATUES!! I thought my heart would melt from excitement! I perused all the ones she had (the Gryphon families in several colors I had never seen, a few Dragons, FLAPCATS!) and couldn’t decide. My half-sister (in her 20s now) purchased a Gryphon chick for a Mother’s Day gift. I had to mull over my decision for a while and we walked around the Village. I ducked back into The Wishing Well just before we left, and came out with my very own first Windstone Edition to put up in my new home! I got the Leaf Cat Sconce (http://windstoneeditions.com/products/leaf-cat-sconce) and I am looking for the purrrfect place to put her up.
Then I found the online community and Facebook… Anyway, thanks for letting me share my story here. I am very happy to be a part of this group and share my love of Melody’s art with like minded enthusiasts. I look forward to being the proud owner of many more statues to come..
May 30, 2013 at 3:39 pm #898099Hello, and good Morning! Welcome to the forum! You should add your story to the “Enter into the world of Windstone” thread. We’ve been collecting our stories of how we found them there. It would be a great addition.
Hope you become a fun active part of the community. We do all sorts of fun stuff, and have lots of fun chats, like the “poad eggs” thread, and quest 11, that will be beginning stage two on Saturday. So Welcome, make yourself at home and have some Skittles! 🙂

May 30, 2013 at 7:07 pm #898106HI. Welcome. I think a lot of us also have had similar experiences with seeing the dragons so long ago and then not actually acquiring many until we got older and found this site. I just found it last year and went from one dragon to 30 plus pieces I think. Ebay can be a good place to look for more but also the classifieds section on here is helpful for buying, selling or trading pieces if you are looking for more.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
May 30, 2013 at 9:31 pm #898109I have been lurking for most of the month actually, and I have been enjoying the conversations and exploring the classifieds for sure. I sent in a submission for Quest 11 too; joining the Quest is what prompted me to join the forums. 😉 I just finally had the time to sit down and introduce myself.
Thank you all for the warm welcome!
May 30, 2013 at 9:36 pm #898111Nice to meet you! I have a similar story – saw Windstones as a kid, loved them but couldn’t have them (oh, youthful poorness), then rediscovered Windstone as an adult and now I have two. Anyway, welcome to the forum! 😀 This place is awesome, I’m sure you’ll love it here!

Good luck with your Quest entry- winning that would be an awesome welcome, wouldn’t it? Anyway it’s great you’re enjoying yourself and participating. 🙂Formerly had the Batman & Joker avatar!
