Im not new to Windstone, Ive owned several over the years. I got my first one in 1999, though I had my eye on them since I was a kid. the first ones I saw were in a tobacco shop in a local mall. I would stand at the window and admire them! Then when I move away from home, i bought a peacock father dragon, who was later joined by an emerald mother dragon. Soon I had a white emperor and teo peacock lap dragons (one was damaged in a fall). I also purchased a peacock spectral dragon, a black baby dragon, a black hatching dragon, a black emperor and the last dragon I had was a red warrior dragon. I loved every one of them. However, in 2008 I divorced and was forced to sell off all my beautiful Windstones. I was devastated. But of all the dragons i had, I saved my adorable white scratching dragon.
I had no idea there was a website until my new wonderful husband bought me a new black mother dragon for christmas as a surprise! He felt bad that I had only one white dragon left after losing so many of my others. He just purchased a PYO keeper for me too!
So, although my sweetheart has an account, I made my own! (I hope that is ok)
Thats a little background in my experience with Windstones.
Now that I am an official member, I had some questions on the metallic look of blended paints on some of the PYOs. I love some of the great ideas I have seen on here. I was hoping I could get some tips on how the metallic shimmer is created. I have read about interference paints, but I cant seem to figure out how to tell what kind to get or how exactly they are used.
Im chomping at the bit to paint this beautiful little guy! But i cant settle on a color scheme. His eyes and gem are Lavender/Amethyst.
Im so excited to be in the community now and look forward to learning all i can about PYO work!
August 1, 2013 at 10:49 pm #900993Hi and welcome. That is unfortunate you had to sell your lovely dragons before but that’s even better that you found a great new husband who would buy you more. That is a great story to share. Hopefully you can get more of the ones you had before or new ones. The classifieds section on here and of course ebay has lots of pieces you can buy from other sellers. I have some pyos to paint as well and I just went out and bought some metallic acrylic paints from Michael’s. I am sure you could buy shimmery powders you could add to paint but I have not done that myself so hopefully other people on here know more about that.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
