    Ugh, I’m *trying*to paint a damn Kirin. She/he is not coopperating in the least!! First, I tried an orangy color w/ gold highlites, yuck….then I added brown, looked like halloween…then tried pink & gold, again YUCK! By now I have SO many layers of paint on the poor thing I’m loosing some finer scales…I think I’m going to send him/her to the PYO grave yard, or maybe just spray her to look like stone….

    hahahahaha- I had a griffin I tried to make into a mocking bird and it just WASN’T working- then I realized it didn’t “want” to be a mocking bird- it “wanted” to be a sparrow- it looks very nice as a sparrow! I’d personally recommend shelving it for a couple of months- you WILL find out the right colors!

      My gryphon :X I can’t get him to look right at all, I’ve basically given up. I don’t want to do anything with him. Won’t be buying another PYO gryphon again n__n;

        I would just put it away in a closed cupboard or something, and let it sit for a few months (or weeks). Take it out then, maybe inspiration will strike!

        Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

          if you want to take off some of the extra paint before you put her on the shelf,so that when you do have another idea of what she would look good as, I would whipe her with a damp sponge.

          I have never had this happen with a pyo yet…but i have when doing other art. I had this on a water color once and it neerly drove me nuts.

            I’m about to throw my PYO for the swap through the window. Part of it came out very nice, but the other part makes it look like it rolled in mud. I’m trying to figure out a way to salvage what I like about it and fix the rest.

            My PYOs tend to turn out different from my sketches for them, but they never argue with me as far as colors used. 😆 Leave it sit for a while. If you can, you might want to take some of the paint off first though.

              GB, I believe the problem is due to the shade of brown I used and the way I painted it on. It only has about three layers of paint on it. The details are still there, the painting technique that I wanted to use on it didn’t work out very well.

              I was actually talking about asinnamon’s. Sorry for not being clear. 😳
              As for yours, Sky, if all else fails you can do what Ski does – paint it black and start over.

                Yep! I end up with lots of black griffins. Happens all the time. 😉

                Has anyone ever tried stripping off the paint to start over, or am I not the only one not willing to risk the statue? (I was told WD-40 would work to get acrylics off, but I’m not that desperate yet.)

                  I stripped the paint off twice on my first PYO wolf. Only thing is I took some of the feather detaling off at the same time. I didn’t realize how much until recently. I used hot/warm water, dish soap and a soft-bristled tooth brush. If you are going to take the paint off it helps to do it early when it’s only been on a day or two. I also used a little fingernail polish remover (non-acetone version) to help with some of the stuck on paint.

                  well ive had that happen with one pyo ki rin, creampuff was originally mucky muck,and so i sat him on the side,then went back to him a month after,i find that works for all my other arts as well,every once in a great while i do something and i either dont like it,or i feel theres something not right about it,so i set it on the side and the next time i look at it,i figure out what the problem is,so no your not alone 😆 hey can i ask you guys with the interfernce paints,do you use retarder with it or just paint with it straight out ❓
