My mother went to light a candle in her Inner Light Dragon Candlelamp (Stone finish), pulled the glass candleholder out, and it broke almost cleanly in half. No chips, no anything. Have you ever heard of this happening?
May 18, 2009 at 12:19 am #765307The candle lamp or the candle holder broke. I have had the candle holders break, I ordered extras from Astral Castle. Although I am one short again. I’ve also had oddball colors come with lamps they made no sense with. 😆
May 18, 2009 at 12:26 am #765308I’ve had glass votives explode on me after the candle was lit for awhile, the metal piece on the bottom got hot that’s why I remove them before I light them but I never heard of one breaking before you put a candle in it especially clean in half. 😕
May 18, 2009 at 12:31 am #765309I have had the glass candle holders break on me to. This usually happened if the candle had burned for a really long time. I’m guessing it was the prolonged heat exposure that caused it to finally crack. But it’s a little wierd for it to just break like that – maybe it had a crack in it already  …

Uh, Yes, this has happened once before with a cat candle lamp. The owner sent it back to us to us to look at. They swore it was used properly, with the votive glass, and it simply split in half for no real reason.
I’ll see if we have any other Inner light dragons around, maybe I can send you a replacement.May 18, 2009 at 5:59 am #765311The candleholder of my Wizard’s House broke, as did the candleholder of a different candlelamp, I forget which. They’re easy to replace, though.
May 18, 2009 at 12:31 pm #765312Yeah, the candleholder on my Winged Cat sconce broke as well, I figured it was the heat.
May 18, 2009 at 2:23 pm #765313Pretty much any glass votive/candleholder that is in direct contact with the candle can break in this way. Thermodynamics! Flaws in the glass, which are naked to the eye, can become fracture points for candles since they heat up. I used to work in a gift store and it was a regular thing to have any of the glass jar style candles and candle holders ‘pop’ cleanly in half like that.

I’ll see if we have any other Inner light dragons around, maybe I can send you a replacement. It seems there was some confusion. The votive candleholder broke, not the candlelamp. We were able to replace it at Long’s (soon to be CVS). I’m glad this did not just happen to my mother! We were beginning to think there was something she did wrong, or it was the particular type of candle she was burning. The candlelamp itself is fine, no problems, no chips. My mother takes good care of her Windstones; she learned it from me although I have chipped my fair amount of Windstones. Thank you everyone for your help! And Melody, thank you for the offer of a replacement! Now that you mention it, a Trio of Dragons candlelamp I saw had broken clean in half, but that was because of foolish customers, not heat!
May 30, 2009 at 11:53 pm #765315I work for Long’s (soon to be CVS) part time and I hope it’s the right candle holder. I’m not sure if there is a specific one you need? I only remember the little candles with the little medal bottoms on them in my store not the glass holders I would think you would need?
May 31, 2009 at 12:32 am #765316The Long’s we went to had the glass holder that was almost identical to the one that came with the Inner Light Candlelamp. We brought the broken one for comparison just to be sure.
