Sounds like a case of someone having a philocifer’s stone that turns into base metal, gold.
November 10, 2009 at 12:27 am #790730Hmm, it still looks a little speckly/rough even after being cleaned with baking soda. I wonder if the tarnish ate through the gold and roughed it up permanently?
November 10, 2009 at 2:27 am #790731That is certainly strange, and though I would never want it to happen to any Windstone piece, that would actually look really cool on the Copper Patina Oriental! 😀
Glad you got them mostly cleaned off with the baking soda!
November 11, 2009 at 10:44 pm #790732I’ve seen just a tiny trace of this on one or two of my Laps’ horns! Hope it’s not proliferating while they’re packed up in storage…
I tried gently prying at it with a fingernail, with no result, when I first noticed it, but I didn’t try anything else, so I’m not sure if there’s a cure — I’ll be watching this thread just in case!

Here is a pic of her horns, I tried alittle bit of water on a paper towel but it did not come off.
I tried the baking soda and water mix and it took alot of it off but alot of them are tiny little spots and I cannot get them off but most of all the larger green spots came off and the horns are some what shiney now 🙂
I included a updated picture of her since I cleaned her horns .
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
December 18, 2009 at 3:52 am #790733Eep! I was just dusting my pink lap today and saw that both of her horns have green spots on them! O-o I’ll have to try cleaning them like suggested, thanks for this thread!
December 18, 2009 at 7:08 am #790734I read the title of this thread and immediately imagined Esk, a critter on DA, and then the staff of Aaron, and other things that sprout vegetation…
Not meaning to belittle the problem, but the phrase was just kinda funny.December 18, 2009 at 2:42 pm #790735It seems to be mostly on the Laps and Mother’s eggs, from what I have read.I live in the humid Mississippi south and so sar,so good.I have not had them more than a year here though.I will keep a closer watch on mine now. Thanks for the topics on this. 🙂
