I’m working on patching the chips with apoxie sculpt, but I have no idea what paints to use to touch this poor emerald OW up. I don’t want to ask Susie and Melody for paint because they’ve already been so generous in sending more than I had asked for the time I asked for some to touch up another piece. I have the gold, but has anyone got some good matches for the greens? Any help is appreciated.

I bet Kirin could help you out. Didn’t she repair an emerald Hatcher a month or so ago?

It’s Kyrin that does repairs (there’s someone else called kirin – confusing I know) and I think she had to get paint from the factory for an exact match.

I’ve come pretty close to matching the emeralds’ colors before by blending different shades of Folk Art’s metallic paints. They make a few different shades of green, the darker stuff works well for the jade range while the lighter, mixed with a little metallic gold, works well for the lighter areas. Good luck in fixing up your piece!

If the area is small you might be able to mix some metallics and get a close match. But the real issue isn’t color, it’s the fact that the paint has sparklies in it that I was unable to match.

I had to ask Melody for paint…I still have some, but since I repair things on a regular basis, I’d rather hold on to it. If you wouldn’t mind mailing him to me, I’d be happy to repaint his areas for you, no charge for the paint fix, you’d just have to cover shipping.

Createx pearlized metallic green. Very nearly a perfect match. πŸ˜€

I have some of that, in small areas it works, in large ones, forget it, but it should work for a small chip very well.

I also saw a sparkly paint additive the other day that I suspect just might give the paint that sparkle that the factory paint has, but it’s not cheap and I haven’t bought any yet to experiment with to find out. But when I do, I will let you guys know if I’m right.

Kyrin fixed my emerald fledgie for me, and you can’t even tell that the fixes are not original! πŸ˜€

Oh cool, i hope it works! πŸ˜€ Yeah, it’s very good for small chips, but for large areas I wouldnt really recommend it. If you add a small drop of gold to the airbrush cup it helps the blending. πŸ™‚

Thanks for the tips guys. πŸ˜€
