Well it was an interesting birthday. I don’t know I guess I always expected something more for my 30th. I mean Piet had a surprise party for his. We ended up having dinner at home with Piet, Shannon and the girls. Mom and Dad gave me (and Piet early for his) a new digital video camera (plus two mini tapes for it) and Piet and Shannon gave me a (Paula Dean) cookbook (that Shannon could tell I wasn’t too thrilled about so she said she would try to take me out shopping for something else later). There was a small cake that I shared with Breana and we went ahead and let her open our gift and mom and dad’s gift. I just…I don’t know…was a big let down.
I did get a birthday call from my husband. He was the first person to wish me a happy birthday “in person.” I also got to visit with my friend who had found the black baby unicorn and he brought it with him for my birthday presnt. Such a cutie. I don’t have it displayed right now because I’m only here for a week and there are three children and under five that are in and out right now.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures. I have seen that second pegasus picture before and just might have the Horses! book that the picture is on the cover of but since I’m not at home I can’t pull it down to check.

June 20, 2008 at 4:16 am #715306Awww im sorry your birthday wasnt better. At least you got the uni and got to talk to your man. Sorry about the cookbook. Thats kinda an odd gift, unless you adore cooking or something 😆 Kinda like a hubby buying you a vaccuum for your anniversary. 😆
June 20, 2008 at 1:01 pm #715307I guess Shannon, my sister-in-law, thought that since I like books and live near Savannah where Lady and Sons is located I would enjoy one of Paula Dean’s newest cookbooks. 😕 I’ve never been big on cooking so it’s kind of wasted on me. I at least flipped through it to see if it was worth keeping, but 2/3 of the book was stuff I would never fix in a million years so it was really wasted on me. I have cookbooks that were give to me and my husband as wedding presents five years ago that have never been opened so I really don’t need more cookbooks.
Sad thing is Shannon called while she was at the bookstore asking me if there were any books I was looking for that I wanted. I couldn’t think of any at the time and said a gift card would be fine. Too bad she didn’t take the advice.
June 20, 2008 at 10:29 pm #715308I hope you can trade it in for something you really want.
