As far as I know, it would be airbrushed using icing colour dyes. Can you get them watered down? The ones I use (I don’t airbrush) come in pots. Very concentrated.

Guess what! It’s my eighteenth! I get to vote in the election!!!
Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes! I laughed at the icing flower one. It’s so, so true… great way to make eight year olds cry. Let’s just hope ten years has made a difference in my ability to maintain friends–or at least, let’s hope the cake has no flowers…

I was a cake decorator for a few years. The paste dyes are meant for mixing into the soft icing that coats a cake. There are also airbrush colors for cakes, that are really thin food color which are airbrushed on any icing, fondant or molding chocolate surface. The pastes arent meant to be watered down, the pigments wouldnt hold I dont think. Icing also doesnt absorb the color the way a pyo does…and is really prone to “overcoating” or “beading” or just dripping down the side if you do too much. I loved decorating cakes, it was a great skill to learn. π

All the scientific advancement in the world..and they cant get red, black (or hot pink for that matter) food dye that doesnt taste bitter…. π they have the “no taste” varieties of the dye…but I can still taste the bitter tang… ew. π
Do you have any fun plans?

You’re right. I think I’m just tired tonight. I actually knew that. But, like I said, I’ve never airbrushed. It would have been really nice to learn that. Maybe someday I’ll buy an airbrush and try to learn to paint with it. π
