My family and friends don’t understand my love of my rats, so I figured on here people would probably know what I’m feeling.
I had to say goodbye to one of my furbabies, Maggie, a black and white hooded rat, yesterday. She developed a huge tumor that was malignant. I feel so terrible. I took her to the vet yesterday in hopes that they would treat her and I would be bringing her home, but it was too late. I didn’t realize that it was going to be her last day with me.
I still have her two sisters. They keep looking around for her, which makes me feel even worse because they don’t understand that she wont be coming back. I’ve been crying all day yesterday and today. Although I know I did the right thing because she isn’t suffering anymore, I still feel awful.
Thanks for reading. I know I don’t post on here much (I’m more of a lurker) but I feel as though there are a lot of animal lovers here who will understand.
Here is one of the best pictures I have of Maggie with one of her sisters Peanut. Maggie is the black and white hooded in the right hand corner

February 13, 2010 at 10:28 pm #805994I’m so sorry. So many people discredit small animals and can’t understand that they can have just as much personality as a loved dog or cat, and can be just as much part of your life and heart. My condolences.

My art: featherdust.comFebruary 14, 2010 at 12:33 am #805995I second Jennifer’s sentiments. Little pets take up just as much room in our hearts as bigger ones. I’m sorry for your loss. *big hugs*

February 14, 2010 at 2:02 am #805997So sorry for your loss. 🙁 I don’t care how small a pet is, if you loved it then it certainly hurts when you have to say goodbye.
February 14, 2010 at 3:14 am #805998I’m so sorry for your loss. Maggie was such a cutie. I have two female ratties myself who own my heart. *hugs*
February 14, 2010 at 3:24 am #805999I am so sorry for your loss.
February 14, 2010 at 8:53 am #806000Sorry for your loss; it’s not the size of the animal that counts, but rather the size of the heart and love IN and FOR the animal that counts.
February 14, 2010 at 6:37 pm #806001Thanks everybody. It really helps to have somebody to talk to 🙂
I’m more concerned about my other two rats now. They’ve been getting into ratty “arguments” since last night. Peanut has always been the more aggressive of the trio, so normally Dewey (my third ratty) hung out with Maggie. Now that Maggie is gone, Peanut has been picking on Dewey. I think I’m going to try to go out to Petsmart to get a few new toys for their cage to hopefully serve as a bit of a distraction.
(For some reason, the photo isn’t showing up completely, arg. Part of it is cut off 😡 )
