griffin #2- real feathers- pics

I really like this, though I agree the colors of the feathers are off. The yellow ones at the top, mainly. I DO like the way the real ones fade into the sculpt. Very cool idea!

thanks- I don’t think I’ll ever do another one– maybe someday when I forget what a pain this one was lol

we’ll see what happens with it- hey if it doesn’t sell I can take the feathers off and repaint– but I might keep her– she has grown on me– maybe I should put her away instead of having her sit next to me on the couch– the longer she sits here the more I want her 😯 😆

Now I am trying to figure out what to do with my green guy I just won– he is worse condition than the pictures and auction let on– I don’t know if I should just do a total repaint or just try to touch him up– but he needs touch up in so many places I don’t think I could possibly match them all well enough not to be noticed. They obviously touch him up themselves but never sealed cause when I washed him off everywhere they touched up wanhed right off.
Which I am actually glad for since they did a terrible job of it. The problem is the whole reason I wanted him was because he was a green dragon– so if I repaint him he loses value as an old green– but the poor thing would look like 100 times better repainted.

I really like the feathers, i think it’s different and unusual. I’m just trying to figure out if you had added more color on the bottom, if it would look nice? But i still like it. I know i may be new to this forum but I do like the colors on the feathers.
When i think of a griffin in my own mind, it’s feathers are not all the same. I really like it.

well thanks! I feel the same way– there are so many birds whos feathers contrast- in colors you wouldn’t think would look nice but they do– and the feathers look so much neater in real life– irridescent.
must… look… away… from…. griffin….

I gotta give you kuddos for creativity. I think he’s very intresting. This is one of the sculptures that I don’t like as much, (I’m a total dragon/horse person), however, I do like this one. I think maybe if you could find a mild way to tie those yellow feathers in, they could stay, to *me*(i’m not an art major though, and my color and fasion sense has been off before) but i personally kinda dig the yellow feathers.

I think he’s neat looking, like the Sun Conure whose feathers he is modeling. It’s win/win for you. If he doesn’t sell, you get to keep him. 😀

yup- tho she has like 20 watchers so I don’t think I’m going to get to keep her– you never know tho… win/win like you said 🙂

I really like the idea and execution of the feathers on the wings and ears. I think you did a wonderful (if not painstaking) job. The body just isn’t striking me, and I can’t put my finger on it…..I think it’s the fact that it’s just the two color green/silver where the feathers are so bright and diverse….Dunno….Keep up the good work though! It was a wonderful idea, and I hope that it sells well!
