I am painting a batch of the new “flipped flap cat” in stray cat colors. I could paint a solid grey one. I don’t know what we are going to do with these cats , ebay or the store? -or both.
I would adore a solid grey one with yellow eyes 🙂
August 8, 2014 at 9:43 pm #917238I prefer the GB Pebble Cat idea. When it comes to Pebble Cats, I’d be happy just owning one. If I absolutely hated the color I got (doubtful), I can always trade. Plus I love the excitement waiting for my newest GB “purr”-chase to arrive…:3
August 8, 2014 at 10:17 pm #917242I think it would probably be better to paint a few of all the colours you can think of for cats and then just put them in the store so people can buy which one they want. I love grab bags in other pieces but I spend a lot of money on shipping trades over the border and if I can save on shipping by just buying a piece I like instead of trying to trade, I would like that a lot more. I would love to see different colours of cats like: Siamese cats-seal, flame and lynx point; tabbies-orange, brown and grey; calico and tortoise shell; black, white, grey, black and white, etc.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
August 8, 2014 at 10:20 pm #917243I like the etsy store idea. Then people could just wait till one they like shows up. Just kinda announce around when they are going in so poeple can watch to nab the one they want.
just gotta remember with etsy, it isn’t jut having it in you cart, it is whoever pays for it first. Multiple people can have it in the cart, it is first paid first served.
Sorry – I hate the idea of putting “Special” OOAK pieces in the etsy store as well as (presumably) the “Special” section in the Windstone store and on ebay. The three-day bid window on ebay is pretty stress free, but having both etsy and the “Special” section would make two “Grab It or It’s Gone” locations to watch. ACK!!@!#%!

Painting a few cats of each color isn’t going to do it if each color is “One per Customer” instead of a “One per Customer” grab bag. I foresee a lot of frustrated/unhappy customers who didn’t get a chance at the color or colors they wanted because the cats all sold out in a flash.
August 8, 2014 at 10:39 pm #917246Well they could always list the cats as one batch with a limit of one, but have a drop down menu of which colour you want or list them separately and still say there’s a limit of one that you should pick out of all the colours.

August 8, 2014 at 10:39 pm #917247I like the Etsy idea too–hopefully that would be easier for poor Pam to handle. 🙂
It actually wouldn’t be less work, but we have an “etsy” person for the summer, who can do it, so Pam doesn’t have to.

The point of the etsy store is only to broaden our presence online, not to make life more stressful for our forum people! I am not sure what we should do.
August 8, 2014 at 11:20 pm #917250not liking the etsy idea for GBs, I can see people abusing the one per customer limit since I assume etsy doesn’t keep track like Windstone does in the coding(havent tried to buy multiples on etsy though)….for a few in certain colors perhaps but not for GBs…..
4 things I'm looking for:
1. Mother Meerkat
2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinAugust 8, 2014 at 11:39 pm #917251I would prefer to have GB Pebble cats and the other colors of cats in the store. These kitties are in high demand and I think that is best way to make sure everyone can get one. I also don’t want to have to watch two different sites to try and get one, but I will if I have too!!! I can’t wait for these kitties!!!

I agree, I’ve tried to acquire OOAK things from Etsy only to be left empty handed and very upset. I can understand and respect that Melody wants to broaden the store, but Etsy isn’t a place for OOAK/Special pieces.
August 9, 2014 at 4:34 am #917269I vote for GB Pebble Cats! It would be cool to get a random kitty! 😀
Check out my finished artwork at http://falcolf.deviantart.com/ and my sketch/studio blog at http://rosannapbrost.tumblr.com/
Excellent!
August 9, 2014 at 5:00 am #917271I don’t collect cats and would not get a pebble cat so I’m just speaking from a purely functional perspective.
Etsy is a VERY frustrating location to purchase “grab bags” and “high demand” items – since it doesn’t reserve anything in your cart, it’s really just whomever can pay first. If you miss one item, you have to try to go back and do it again (but by then the other items are probably sold out too). It’s a really terrible shopping experience. I love the idea of the Etsy store for expanding presence and offering production/LP items – but it’s really not great for a grab bag, IMO.
While not ideal, unless you want to make each type of kitty an LP color and paint a reasonable sized batch, I think you’re probably best sticking with a standard grab bag. Ebay prices can be driven up too high too fast for people who just want a small memorial sculpt and the special store could make it frustrating for people trying to grab their preferred color. A grab bag at least levels the playing field and folks can always trade.
You could always keep a handful aside from the grab bag in some common cat colors to post on ebay after the grab bag for people who REALLY want one to match their kitty and want to see it in advance.
August 9, 2014 at 5:25 am #917272I think Kiya is right on this one, and as stated earlier it would be (a little ) stressful to watch three places. Grab bag pebble cats, on the other hand, are a very good idea…
Keeping an eye out for fantasy gryphons and test paint dragons.
August 9, 2014 at 5:32 am #917274Or do it like the foxes with a grab bag batch plus some regular colours although I missed the grab bags so would prefer more of a variety of limited production colours if it’s possible to do say 10 each of all the popular cat colours and styles.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
