Are there any grey cats, candleholder cats or flap cats? Like besides the stonewash version.

My cat passed away really suddenly. I’m still kind of in shock… but looking around it pains me that I have nothing physical to remember her by. I’d really like something that will make me smile when I look at it and think of her, unlike the more painful things like her empty food dish still on the floor.

Did not mean to whine. Just wondering if something along these lines exists. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I have a grey cat as well. Maybe you could get a pyo one to paint grey or get someone to paint it for you.

Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

Oh gosh. This isn’t whining at all. 🙁 Losing a loved one is never easy, and sudden losses like this just hit you like a ton of bricks.

I know that in the classified ads section there are these little round kitties for sale, I think in some of Margaret’s adds, and one of them might have been grey? Other than that, I don’t know… and probably won’t be able to be very much help. 🙁

But I actually really like Kim’s idea. Your cat may have had a distinctive look you’d like to capture, and there are some very skilled PYO artists here who could really do him/her justice by capturing it perfectly. If I was you, and this was something I could afford, I think that’s what I’d do anyway.

So sorry for your loss, rachelled.

Yes, unless it was an ebay piece, there haven’t been any grey cats in production. Your best bet would be to paint a pyo or have someone paint one for you. There are no pieces in the classifieds that are grey colored cats or flapcats at the moment, but you could always make an ad.

Thanks all. I appreciate the support… It has not been an easy day.

I looked into the PYO and the problem is that she was a short haired cat, so the sculpt doesn’t really remind me of her. I might give it a shot anyways, though.

I will look in to the classifieds, possibly put up a wanted ad <3 Thank you.

One of the PYO sculps that Melody is working on is a short haired flap cat. I don’t know how soon it will be available but it might be what you are looking for….
So sorry about your cat 🙁

I think the only gray flappers were a set of 12 that were sold on ebay many years ago. I have one. I’ll see if I can remember to get some pics for you. Remeber being the key, my memory is terrible. :~

Sorry for your loss. No words will ease the pain of loss, human or animal. It will always hurt, but over time it’ll hurt less. I hope you can find a sculpt you like so you can look upon it with pleasant memories of your cat.

There’s an active thread right now about the progress of PYO statues that Melody’s been responding to if you’re interested in asking Melody about the short-haired PYO. Or I could ask her for you, if you want. Otherwise, what about a kitty griffin, maybe? Or if there were any white flapcats made, perhaps you could repaint one without too much trouble?

This is actually good news for me, thank you. Hopefully it is in the near future…

I would really, really love if you could find a photo for me. Were they batwinged or feathered? Thanks so much.

I will take a look! Thanks.

If there’s a white flapcat that would also possibly be doable. I have seen flat black cats but they seem like they’d be harder to paint over…

Painting over a white flap cat would be… sad to say the least. They were a limited production and hard to come by. We are talking the large Flap Cats right? You can find a siamese or black peacock tuxedo easy enough on ebay if a repaint is what you’re looking for. Especially a damaged one someone can fix, they go for short money these days. Just remember, Windstone does somewhat discourage repaints, so if one is done make sure it’s noted on the bottom of the sculpt at least that it’s not an ebay piece or something like that.

Also, there were just 12 of the grey tabby style large flappers. ( I believe they were closed eye versions ) but there are some “stray cat” versions they may be grey. I have Smokey, he’s a very dark, almost gunmetal sort of grey. I got him second hand because he reminded me very much of our cat Bubbas who was 22 years old when he passed away a few years ago. There were a couple grey/silver bengals as well.

I’m very sorry to hear about your cat. Now that the long haired PYO flap cat is out I have two memorials I plan to paint as well for my cats Callie and Snickers who I had creamated. It’s never easy to loose a furbaby, they become much like family. Sometimes I think even more so. <3 *hugs*

There were also several small flap cats done in grey patterns. I have Harold who is a small bird winged flap cat.

Whups! When I originally made the suggestion, I didn’t realize it was a rare/limited production. Actually, I didn’t know if a white one had been made at all. I guess in this case, it would be less than ideal, and maybe better to wait for the short-haired PYO to come out. I mean, I could be wrong, but I’d think that black could be difficult to paint over without making the painting very thick and potentially losing detail, and it would be kind of crazy to suggest throwing away a lot of money for a rare piece if you’re going to change it.

Windstone strongly discourages repainting in general – it can cause a lot of confusion for less experienced collectors (and in some cases experience collectors!)

There definitely is a short haired PYO flap-cat in progress, but PYOs are usually fairly slow to show up for sale so it could be awhile there.

Tentatively there are plans for a grab bag pebble kitty sale (after colts, possibly before more unis) – I’d guess there will probably be some gray cats in that batch!
