Tonight we saw The Brave One (Jodie Foster) in a day that every show was standing room only and the line was around the block. I wont discuss the plot so as not to spoil, but it’s been a long time since Ive been in a movie where ppl were moved the clap, hoot and holler during appropriate parts, as well as applaud the closing credits.
Yet, according to local papers, it got horrible reviews. Personally, Ive never listened to reviews or read them as I like to make up my own mind. Though somewhat graphic in parts for my taste, I thought the movie was awesome and would recommend it.
Anyone here seen it yet or has it only just come out that it’s too early for anyone to have seen? If you could give it a school grade (from A-F), what would you give it? My rating would be around an A- to B+.
September 16, 2007 at 6:10 am #617373Hmm I haven’t seen it and wasn’t really planning to. But based on what you said maybe i will.
I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~

September 16, 2007 at 7:30 pm #617375I saw Stardust recently. Loved it, but then one of my favorite authors is Neil Gaiman (who’s book the film is based off of). All the critics are comparing it to the Princess Bride which is really wrong. Stardust is a fantasy film for adults. There are comedic moments but that isn’t the basis for the story. The Princess Bride (which is another of my favorite movies) is a parody of all fantasy stories. They aren’t the same at all. But if you love fantasy movies, Stardust is a sure bet.
September 16, 2007 at 8:37 pm #617376Being hard of hearing I don’t go to the movies very often. Many theaters today are equipped with an FM sound system and headphones you can use but it still isn’t that great. When I lived in Atlanta once in awhile one of the local theaters would sponsor a captioned movie which I always went to but it wouldn’t be a very new one. I usually watch a lot of movies on TV because today most of the are captioned as are most programs. I have two digital hearing-aids (my 4th set) but they are not the end all be all they are sometimes advertised to be.
September 16, 2007 at 8:50 pm #617377That’s too bad, I’m sorry to hear that. I’d never thought of that, I’m surprised more movie theatres don’t do that. I guess they expect you to wait until the DVD comes out with the captioning.
September 18, 2007 at 2:24 am #617378I saw it this weekend…and honestly…
I think it was a really good movie…and I liked how it ended…
but at the same time it was horribly sad….all the way through…
and I think the only people that wouldn’t be affected by it in some way would be people that didn’t have emotions at all…
I can’t really imagine it getting bad reviews unless they thought it was just too realistic for people to see…
I think it deserves an A
