Just an idea I’m throwing out there: I understand that the bigger sculpts wouldn’t work as grab bags, but what about grab bag hatchlings, the smallest ones?
I’m pretty sure it’s been suggested before, but I also have a solution for the painting difficulties: What if specifically for the grab bags, you painted the egg, and even the rock, the same color as the dragon, no differenciation? Just like the copper patina hatchlings but in different color schemes, for example, I’d love to see an albino piece with red eyes and pink antiquing, or any other color really.
I just love the idea of the grab bags, but I only collect dragons, so I’d definitely get in on that!

I think poor Stephanie would go broke trying to buy all the grab bag hatchers from everyone 😉 It is a very cool idea though, dragons are my favorite to collect =) Grab bag baby griffins would be another good one.

o god yes grab bag curlies!!!!! fledglings would be cuter but I’ll still flip over any grab bag dragon!
No way. I couldn’t possible paint those guys in grab bag colors! They are almost impossible to paint in a standard color!
But I am open to painting something else in “grab bag”. I like to stick to the natural animal colors. Maybe pebble cats? Though they don’t have eyes or jewels, so they are kinda boring.
I should do a special piece that is just for grab-bagging.
I have some grab bag baby poads(tm), but those things are really difficult to paint in acceptable colors/patterns. I spend weeks cutting stencils and figuring out every color scheme I paint the poads in. I don’t want to ship any hideous ones! It is real easy to make a mess if you don’t have any restrictions on what colors they can be!Melody, if you paint something grab bag or otherwise (poad/uni/cat/dragon/etc) you consider hideous, try this first. Post a pic of it as it is, and see what we think. What you think is hideous might be JUST the thing someone is looking for!! That pink and green polka-dotted poad(just my own mental hideous example) with orange eyes might match someones couch, who knows!
*nods* Understandable! The hatchers do look really difficult to paint.
I still squeak for grab bag baby Poads ™, but I totally understand how they could be difficult. Perhaps they are better suited for Ebay, so people can see what they’re getting, but since I can’t afford Ebay pieces, I’ll squeak for grab bags. 😀 I’m sure none of them are hideous!
A special grab bag piece would be awesome!
Melody – I agree with Wampus!! In the two times that I’ve actually been able to purchase a grab bag unicorn from the store, I was totally disappointed! Neither of the guys that I got were what I was looking for, and not my style at all. However, when I posted pictures of them in the grab bag thread, they were both traded within HOURS of posting because they were exactly what someone else wanted!
I’m sure it’s no surprise, but I’m a really big fan of the grab bag thing 🙂 That should say something, especially since the only 2 that I got directly from Windstone, I was not happy with! I love being able to see all of the different unique pieces that everyone got, and the grab bag young uni trades that I have done have made me new friends that I wouldn’t have otherwise made 🙂
Heck, while doing the grab bag young Directory page I’ve found that I really don’t hate any of the unicorns (I had convinced myself that I hated the two that I got from the store initially), after looking at pictures of all of them for so long I would have thought I’d get sick of them, but I’ve just learned to really appreciate each one and how happy so many people are to have special pieces from you 🙂

Pink and green polka dots would probably make most people gag, but it sounds like my cup of tea, lol! So far with the grab bags, if someone gets something that they are disappointed with there has always been someone who loves it and there’s always been a happy ending. <3
