Took my husband in to talk to the transplant team. They are going to activate him on the list. He just needs to talk to the surgeon again and see an ear, nose, and throat specialist just to make sure he has no problems there. The only test he has to redo is a tissue typing test and another ecg. They said once they get pre-approval from the insurance company they will add him to the list. So by next week he should be on it. As of right now they have 3 people on the list (its not a country wide list but a tri-state list). They said he will have his surgery within 3 months. They also told me it will only be a 4-6 hour surgery (I had been told it was 12-16). So I’m crossing my fingers that everything goes well, he gets his transplant and flys thru it with no problems. We are both very excited about it but also nervous. When I asked why there was only 3 people on the list the doctor laughed and said “we’ve transplanted everyone else”. So I guess thats a good thing.
