Was a Christmas Carol any good? Next on my list is Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Depends upon what you’re looking for. I enjoyed how faithful to the original story it was, though some parts were a bit over-the-top. 🙂
December 21, 2009 at 12:33 am #796760My sister and I watched Avatar yesterday(despite the large crowds making us nerviouse wrecks) and all I got to say is GO. GO NOW.. it is a must-see in theater. We all(parents included) used the 3d glasses and it was phenominal with a very epic storyline to boot… and GADS!!! Pandora is amazing! I am getting that artbook….when i get the chance.
but for now…need to recover from crowed trauma.
December 21, 2009 at 12:38 am #796761Awwwww–now I remember why I don’t go to movies too much—the crowds. I’m not good with crowds myself. I am not a frequent visitor of shopping malls for the very same reason–all that hussle bussle drives me more bonkers than I already am. So maybe I can find it playing during the day–these movies sound great–a must see if you need the 3D glasses!

yeah, my sister and I have a hard time with crowds because of PTS, and well the mall was pretty packed. you also had to STAND in line for the movie!!! it was that sold out. They are running it in Imax, but we did the regualer theater and it was just as awesome on the smaller screen…although i may go back and see it in imax.
December 21, 2009 at 12:48 am #796764a good review(meaning photos and video) of the book.

December 21, 2009 at 10:08 am #796766I’m with you on that, Pegasi.
I haven’t been to the theaters since… Up. I just want to see the critters in Avatar, but I don’t want to sit through the movie, so I’m probably going to skip this like I’ve skipped so many others.December 21, 2009 at 8:51 pm #796767Adaneth wrote:skigod377 wrote:Was a Christmas Carol any good? I figured over the top with Jim Carrey. Just looking for a funny Christmas movie for the kiddo. 🙂December 21, 2009 at 11:42 pm #796768KoishiiKitty wrote:My sister and I watched Avatar yesterday(despite the large crowds making us nerviouse wrecks) and all I got to say is GO. I am so with you on that. 😮 I went to a 1 pm showing today, so there were only around 20 people in there with me, and it was SO gorgeous. I want to go back and see it at an Imax theatre, maybe New Year’s weekend, whether I have any money left or not! 😆 I love that planet!!
December 22, 2009 at 5:16 am #796769My hubby and I just got back from the movies. WOW… Just WOW… Damn that was an awesome movie! Avatar is definitely worth seeing in the theaters. We didn’t do the 3D feature, so it wasn’t that crowded. 🙂
Saw the trailer for Clash of the Titans… I’m adding that one to my list as well, especially since I’ve seen the original sooo long ago.
December 22, 2009 at 8:08 am #796770Not a movie, but if any of you have the chance to catch “Prep and Landing” when it airs in reruns, DO. That thing was so funny that I can’t wait to find it on DVD. I want to watch it over again about five times to catch all the background details and humor. 😀
December 22, 2009 at 10:39 am #796771Just saw Avatar. It was AWESOME. (And they give the critters lots of screen time.)
Honestly I don’t think the 3D added any to the experience, I’ll probably go see it again without it.
And man, that art book makes me wish I had money! (The review linked here though… WTF? The guy basically slams the book in every single paragraph. And… the technology to do this was in the Final Fantasy movie? Ha!!!! No flipping way. The CG in that still looked like it was fake. This looked real. They’re not even in the same league.)
I’m already doodling up some fan art, just because the creature design is so neat that I can’t help but want to draw things! I’m trying to draw a Leonopteryx (the giant version of the flying things they ride) but it’s hard to find decent references of it, and I’m just not good enough to get the anatomy right just from having seen it for a few minutes on screen.
http://www.sparkcostumes.com/artwork/albums/userpics/leonopteryx.jpg <–attempt at getting the Leonopteryx down on paper. It has some issues. 😛 The proportions are off and I don't think I have the wings quite right.
December 22, 2009 at 4:17 pm #796772We ended up seeing “Avatar” in 3D last night and I actually didn’t have any problems with it. Hubby and I think that it was because of instead of throwing things out at you, the 3D was used to make the movie stretch away from the audience adding depth to every thing. We were a little worried that Gavin (our 5-year-old) wouldn’t be able to sit through it competely since it was nearly 3 hours long, but he had no problem with it. I think all the colors and action facinated him, which is interesting because he got squirmy during “Princess and the Frog” (which was an hour shorter). The instrumental soundtrack for “Avatar” was so good that hubby’s going to pick it up when he’s at the mall getting a last minute Christmas present for Gavin.

I was listening to clips from the soundtrack on Amazon.com last night and might do the same, once I’ve crawled out of my Christmas-induced financial pit, anyway! 🙂 Happy to hear the 3d didn’t bother you. For a long movie, I didn’t feel like I’d been there all that long.
