Yes! They can indeed squeak… they do not do it all the time but I have had one squeak at me when I was trying to get him out of his cage… kinda shocked me that he made noise! Nothing too noisy but they can let out little squeaks! lol

Plus, I named my new gerbil “Ginger Good Squeek” 😀 with lots of help from people here on the forum! 😉
