I’m sorry, I have the tendency to be non talkative for months. I’ve also been busy with school and art. But still looking in here on an almost daily basis 🙂

I just figured out that my lease is up in May… so if they dont have a senior enlisted, 4br for me, im moving off post! HAhahaha!! I WIN!
March 16, 2009 at 6:59 pm #755427Do you want to move off post? Is that a good thing?

*Speaking from my own experience, don’t know how it’s been for Ski*
Army housing typically sucks. It’s old, run down and poorly maintained. Very seldomly do you get to live in a place that is less than 10 years old (and it could have had as many different tenants in that time). Often times you can save money living off post. When we lived off post, the place we lived in was cheap enough that we were able to pay rent, electricity, water, cable, phone and internet with the money alloted for BAH (basic allowance for housing).
When we moved on post and they started taking the BAH we no longer had to pay rent, water and power (for that’s what BAH covered) but we then had to pay cable, phone and internet out of our own pockets. If we lived in the new housing we could have gotten hit with an adjustment each month based on power and water usage and would probably have to pay more money since they got the baseline numbers from a time when soldiers were deployed (meaning one less person in the house using power and water and one person does make a difference on that).
March 17, 2009 at 11:13 am #755430I’m here… It’s just that sometimes, I don’t have anything to say!

I would rather live on post just for the convenience…there is alot to be said for both. I dont have to worry about pets, deposits, electric/water bills, or distance to work when I live on post. My BAH is about 2400, so I need to see what kind of place I can get around here (off post) for that. I need at least 4 brs and my BAH would hopfully cover rent and my electric bill. Finding a place around here is not easy, but at least I choose it. If I live on post, I take what they give me and sometimes… like what I am living in now… its really old and crappy, like Peg said. Im still excited about moving and hopefully I can do it when Paul gets here:)
