March 10, 2009 at 4:42 am #755396Terribly busy. Busy job hunting and working, in my case, anyway. It’s like I have three jobs right now. Got caught up in fixing up nice little resume packets and forgot about dragon photos for laphon (sorry laphon! They’re on my camera, a quick editing job and I’ll be able to email them to you!).
Here’s hoping my trip to Champaign will yield something promising.
March 10, 2009 at 6:11 am #755397I’m on every workday morning, as usual, and the number of new posts doesn’t seem to be diminishing…
March 10, 2009 at 1:54 pm #755398I was gone for the weekend (oldest niece turned 5) and then yesterday I had to go pick up my husband’s laptop and my In-Laws computer from the Geek Squad at Best Buy. The laptop was just getting tweeked and thoroughly cleaned (finally) after the two trips it made to Iraq. The In-Laws computer, however was another story.
ALWAYS, Always, always have some sort of anti-virus program (preferably that you pay for) on your computer and keep it up to date. My In-Laws let theirs expire and never renewed it. My BIL’s fiancee loves to download things off Lime-Wire. It got so bad they couldn’t even log online or update any of the free anti-virus/malware programs (like Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware). The nasty stuff was blocking anyway of fixing the computer. According to the Geek Squad. they ended up having 240 different malwares (trojans, worms, viruses) on their computer. It ended up getting wiped and restored. It now has a good anti-virus program on it. The Geek Squad member said they all try the different anti-virus programs as they are released and they all keep coming back to the one we just installed on the computer (and the laptop). It’s Kapersky Internet Security in case anyone is wondering.

March 10, 2009 at 3:19 pm #755401Yow, Pegasi, sounds like that was one infested computer! There are so many good anti-virus and anti-spyware programs out there, it should be no problem keeping your computer safe. I use only free programs (Spybot and AntiVir) and have never had a problem.

I think the biggest cause for their problem was the downloading of files off Limewire. It’s amazing how malwares can get embedded in things like mp3s. Hopefully they won’t have the problem again.
March 10, 2009 at 4:02 pm #755403I got the message my anti-virus was expiring one time and I forgot to load the new one, which I had purchased several weeks before, and a nasty virus took it down – never again will I let the old one expire without loading the new one.
March 10, 2009 at 5:41 pm #755404I’ve been really sick. I’d been fighting it for about a week and it took me down pretty bad over the weekend. Went to the doctor yesterday. Looks like I have bronchitis. I’m still pretty bad. Am taking it very easy. Hopefully all these lovely drugs will make life better. Won’t be on much over the next few days either.
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
March 10, 2009 at 9:53 pm #755405Been horribly busy and my computer is still doing the random restarting thing. That yesterday I had problems with Safari locking up whenever I wanted to look at the General Windstone thread. Let’s see if it’ll let me in today. 🙄

Have you tried defragging your hard drive recently. I seem to remember someone else on the forum having a similar problem with the random restarting and part of the cause was their hard drive was nearly 100 % fragmented.
March 11, 2009 at 2:29 am #755407I’m sorry, I have been busy. Lately I have been popping in and popping out. 😳
March 11, 2009 at 3:53 am #755408Just so y’all are fine and hanging in there, I’m good… I just worry easily 😳
