This is the commission I recently took from the posted auctions on Ebay…I had to finish this one ultra fast to be in time for someone’s birthday. This one took a nice over-nighter.

It’s very different from my usual choice of paints blends, but I do love how it came out. It had to be done in ruby, gold, and bronze metallics, and I added in silver for more impact.January 21, 2007 at 6:28 pm #489358January 21, 2007 at 6:36 pm #530457Thats beautiful!! I like this one better than your green one! I was planning one like this, too.
January 21, 2007 at 6:44 pm #530458Feel free to use the same colors. I am sure many will be using similar precious metal themes on their dragons. I will probably do another like this one…only with adding blacks. We’ll see.
Also, others may want to use my stripe dragon wing patterns…that’s ok. I don’t corner the market on striped wings. I just will be painting all of my dragon PYOs with stripes. That doesn’t mean somebody else cn’t paint one or two with stripes too. It’s just “my thing” on ALL of my dragons, but you guys should feel free to use stripes or spots if you want to when it suits your sculpture…like for a tiger dragon or something.
January 21, 2007 at 6:49 pm #530459I will forever associate the stripes w/your dragons. I never would have thought about it, so I would never use it. The colors, however, I have thought about! 🙂 I have a red-eyed dragon on the way for a similar color, only with black added in the corners.
January 21, 2007 at 6:52 pm #530460Lol, well I’ll try to make sure mine won’t match yours, since you’ll probably get to yours first. I have a sunset dragon and a green KiRin that wants a paint coating first.
January 21, 2007 at 6:54 pm #530461Mine is not even here yet 🙁 Soon though! You did a great job on this one for doing it so fast! I know you like to take your time on these so for you to even do it in one night is great! Very nice of you!
January 21, 2007 at 7:04 pm #530462That is a beautiful dragon. I was also thinking about using copper, but I have to get another dragon.
January 21, 2007 at 8:32 pm #530463Your dragons are awesome, Water. The leopard frog one remains my favorite, but this one is lovely, too.
January 21, 2007 at 11:44 pm #530464The commissioner may want a different color format on this, so I may be doing another golden ruby soon, depending on what she says. We’ll see. This will go to EBay in that case.
January 22, 2007 at 12:19 am #530465Oh yeah, I’m doing a KiRin to atch the leopard frog dragon. Wee!
January 22, 2007 at 4:33 am #530466Oh wow Water! One of your best dragons so far I think! I live the silvery color with the reds and oranges! Like the very tips of a flame! I also really dig the bright red hues on the underbelly and the forearms! It looks like a lizard puffing up & turning red.
I’m secretly really glad he doesn’t look like the red dragon I’m doing. He’s black and red and COVERED in stripes!

I’ve though of trying it but not sure really how it would look. Even if we did the same two dragons though, yours would ultimately look vastly different than mine.
January 22, 2007 at 5:28 am #530468Looks like I’ll be doing a new golden ruby. This one had too much silver for the client. No worries though, the next will have deeper reds and no silver.
January 22, 2007 at 5:43 am #530469I think this first golden ruby will sell well on E-Bay too. I’ll watch it. And I really look forward to the leopard frog kirin!
