Were there ever any gold dragons with blue eyes, Ebay pieces or??
There’s a family of damaged ‘gold’ dragons; mother , male and young on Ebay right now. They have what seems to be vivid gold paint and blue eyes. The gold looks more like the ‘special’ gold than the regular gold so I was wondering if they were an OOAK family or did someone just change eyes for the fun of it?
Edit: I see gold splatter on their felt pads so they could also just be repaints…
Hmmm… the Male has damage on his wing, and the Mother on her front claws, and it looks like they were painted gold after that happened. And the overspray on the felt you mentioned. And anywhere the gold has rubbed, or on the bottoms of the statues, and a couple thin spots in the gold paint, looks like they used to be peacocks underneath. Also there doesn’t seem to be any antiquing or other accent colors.
I would guess that they’re repaints… Could be wrong though.
I looked at them pretty closely last night. Definite repair & simply spray painted one shade of gold. There’s ZERO detail painting on them at all.
If I had the time to work on them, I might contact the guy, tell him what he had, ask for a (cheap) package deal, and then do That Which Shall Not Be Named On These Boards for my own personal enjoyment, and because those poor babies deserve better. But tempting as the idea is, I’ve got way too many projects ahead of that one to consider it.
I really looked hard at these guys last night and you can see that they are peacock’s that have been repainted with gold. Look at the rubed marks on them and you can see the peacock color.

Definitely peacock repaints. But the seller has got them listed for $9.99 each, so it’s not like they’re over-charging.
I’m surprised they look as nice as they do, considering they have no paint detail. I guess that’s a real testament to how good Melody’s sculpts are that even solid color spray painted ones look good.
I gave an offer of $40 for all of them. I want to try restoring them as a personal project. I’m surprised that they look that good though I think there may be more damage then the photos show.
Looking closely, I would say that my opinion is that they are, with 99.999% certainty, peacock dragons that have been spray-painted gold. At least someone took the effort of making off the eyes and gems beforehand.
Looks like they got damaged, someone spray painted them, then they got damaged some more (for the mother and young at least).

I saw them too and thought the lack of depth in the color, and the blue eyes with blue gems were a definate “repaint” job. They’re pretty for what they are though! I wouldn’t mind having one as part of my collection. My (genuine) gold male is lonely after I sold my riser.

Yea, you guys already all nailed it. DEFINATLY peacock dragons that were repainted gold. You can easily tell by looking at the bottoms
