Going away!

It’s a really good thing we’re super busy at work, otherwise, this would be the longest day ever.

Tonight, I’m flying to France to visit family for the next 2 weeks. It’s been 15 years since I’ve been back, so I’m a wee bit excited. I’ll meet my cousin’s kids for the firt time (cousin with whom I got into a lot of mischief growing up) and see aunts & uncles…

The sad part is that it’ll be my dad’s last trip (part of the reason I’m going is that my mom can no longer travel alone with him). My sister-in-law made the trip there with them at the beginning of March; my mom’ll pick me up tomorrow and I’ll make the trip back with my parents on April 1st. He’s really excited to see his siblings, but his cognitive functionality has really, really deteriorated since last year at the same date, so we can imagine that next year in March, he might not be “there” (my dad has early onset Alzheimers – he’s 66). Some of you how much of a rocky road the past 4 years have been for me in that regard; I’m just hoping that being surrounded by family will help make this vacation a true one, no matter what.

I’m bringing my computer, so I’ll pop in; if you have any comments for the feedback lists, no worries, I’ll be able to respond. I might post a picture or two; we’ll be in Britanny (Bretagne), where the seaside can be breathtaking. I’ll be out of the -15C weather and into rain! Woot!
