I posted this in the Store Ideas thread, but it never got addressed. It probably just got lost amongst the other talk. Anyway, here goes again—–>
I know that this has been brought up before, and I think there was the decision that it wasn’t possible because of the fear of fakes being made. But, I would love it if Windstone could offer gift certificates in the store. Couldn’t it be possible to have serial numbers assigned to each of them so they can be kept track of? Gift certificates are great for Christmas and b-day gifts. I know I would be asking for them!
October 8, 2007 at 3:29 am #624414How about gift cards? There seems to be a gift card for everything nowadays. Those might be harder to duplicate.
October 8, 2007 at 4:16 am #624415or just a code via email, maybe…I think Ebay and Amazon do that for their gift certificates…but I don’t know how hard something like that is to set up.

-J R R TolkienOctober 8, 2007 at 12:28 pm #624416Yep, Ebay does gift certificate codes by e-mail. I’ve asked for them for Christmas from my family. My mom always prints mine out and puts it in a card for me. I’m pretty sure Amazon works the same way.
October 8, 2007 at 12:29 pm #624417I really like that idea. I don’t know that I’d make use of it, but I like it. 😆
October 8, 2007 at 12:56 pm #624418I would probably use Windstone gift cards/certificates (if they were available) more than Ebay ones. At least I would know ahead of time if I’ll have enough to cover the cost of something I want from the store… and can plan on how to make up the difference if need be. The prices just sky rocket on Ebay, and I may only have half the cost covered with gift certificates in the end.
October 8, 2007 at 3:42 pm #624419I am not positive, but you might be able to get a gift card for Paypal, which would essentially be just as good. Does anybody know if these exist?
October 8, 2007 at 5:39 pm #624420I’ve gone on Paypal before trying to find out if they did gift cards… and wasn’t able to find anything. They only mentioned Ebay gift certs. in the Q&A section.

Thanks for posting it as a separate discussion. We have no answer for you at this time – but it’s something for us to consider in the future!
October 8, 2007 at 9:16 pm #624422I just did a quick search and found this regarding Paypal Gift Certificates:
http://www.shareholder.com/paypal/releaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=179621
https://www.paypal.com/en_US/pdf/MerchGCs.pdf
They are geared more towards the merchant setting up gift certificates that can be purchased through Paypal, rather than the consumer buying gift certificates from Paypal. But it might be an option for Windstone to check out. From a quick skim over the text, it looks like it’s free to get set up, then Paypal does all the tracking and reporting for you.

Awesome! 😀 I know a lot of collectors would love if you guys could offer this sometime in the future.
Also, thanks Tintaglia for digging up that info. Very helpful.
