I used Vinigar and Baking soda on the carpet and it was clean for 2 days, In fact it was the cleanest part of the carpet but I can’t get down to the wood because of the Foam underlay.
The Vinigar baking soda method is the origional “Carpet Cleaner” and would take forever to do the entire carpet, so I’m pretty sure that’s why God created steam cleaners!! 😀
My family came to the conclusion LONNGGGGGGGGGGggggggggg ago that we aren’t really fans of carpet, but you can’t really do much when renting. Should only be one more year untl Mom’s bought a house and we can move in.

But there is one place we like carpet 😈 (Besides Cat trees) and that’s if you have steps that don’t have risers, and you can toss things through, but you need the stairs fully wrapped in carpet. It’s an absolute hoot to watch a cat playing on those, spinning around and running up and down the underside of them!! 😆

Yup that’s why it’s also an excellent cleaner for things it scrubs things clean with out too much physical scrubbing. And gets fairly deep down on things like carpet.
