Forgive me – I am copying and pasting much of this from the previous thread for Grab Bag Mini Keepers, but if you have not read the instructions before it is worth a read!
I am going to start collecting images for Grab Bag Colts of BOTH batches! It may take a while, so please be patient with me if I get backed up on it! This will be something that I work on in my spare time only, and sometimes that’s hard to find 🙂
Here’s the deal:
If you’d like your colt to be featured in the directory (which, when it has a few entries, I will include in my signature just like the others and you are welcome to link to wherever you wish) you must EMAIL me your photos and permissions.
Please be SURE to state in the email that you are giving me permission to modify and post your photos on my website.
I will not be able to post without your expressed permission! That said, please also make SURE that YOU own the photos you are sending!!
Ownership of a photo belongs to the person who took the photo originally, NOT the person who currently owns the piece pictured! If YOU took the photo, YOU own the photo! If you meet this requirement, you can give me permission to use it on my site – you cannot give your husband’s permission, your brother’s permission, or your neighbor’s permission if they took the photo. They must email me if that is the case.I know, this sounds stupid and annoying over a picture – but please trust me when I say that the issues I have encountered in the past were absolutely not worth the aggravation! It may seem like a silly step for you, but it really helps me in the long run avoid unnecessary drama and frustration in my life! 🙂
I will be accepting up to THREE pictures of each colt – please be sure that each of these pictures is of a distinctly different side – the display side (where she appears to be facing the right), the back (especially in the case of the newest colts, as they have lots of beautiful detail on their backs), and the nondisplay side (where she appears to be facing the left).
How did I determine the display side vs the nondisplay side?
I may be wrong, but I consider the display side to be the side where the colt’s head is turning ever so slightly towards 🙂 You can tell this by looking at her from straight on, or from the top. Here’s an example of the display side:
Here’s an example of the back:
Here’s an example of the nondisplay side:

If you will only be sending one or two pictures, please be sure that ONE of those pictures is of (what I consider to be) the display side of the colt!
*************
Please be sure that the photos are AT LEAST 700 pixels wide. Small pictures are VERY hard for me to adapt to my webpage, and the bigger the better! I am happy to modify the raw image from your camera – it’s very large, but that means I can resize it without losing any of the quality 🙂

Some notes on taking photos of your Windstone:
These are tips and are by no means required, but highly recommended!!Photos are best taken in a lightbox or under natural light. I almost always take my pictures outside if I can, because the sun is the best natural light source! Pretty much everything looks its best when taken on a slightly cloudy day. If you do not wish to move your piece outside for photos, just make sure you have plenty of light when you are taking pictures.
When you take a picture of your Windstone, it is best to stand a few feet away and use the zoom on your camera instead of taking a picture up close. The reason for this is that if you take a picture up close, the proportions of the piece become distorted due to the camera’s proximity to the piece. When you step back and zoom in, the piece’s proportions stay correct! I learned this after MANY months of taking pictures of Windstones, and trust me when I say – you can tell the difference!
Here’s an example:
Poor Riverspine on the left looks like he’s a bit full of himself – his head is big, his feet are tiny! This is because I was standing very close to him when taking the picture. Taiga, on the right, was taken from several feet back using zoom. His proportions are correct to if you were standing in front of him, and he looks much prettier because of it!
(I realize this particular tip may be more difficult for people using camera phones! Again these are just tips, and not requirements 🙂 )Flash is NOT recommended. It tends to wash out and discolor the piece in photos because of the slightly bluish tint of the artificial light that is used in most cameras. I of course understand if you have limited resources and I will still gladly accept pictures that use flash! However, if you have the time and resources, I highly recommend using the tips above. They will really help your dragon to stand out!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away – however, do NOT post your image in here and give me permissions in this thread – I WILL NOT be taking images from this thread or from PMs – please, EMAIL ONLY! This makes it much easier for me to organize permissions and images 🙂 Thanks everyone!!

July 30, 2014 at 7:53 am #916724I will send you some pics as soon as I have a chance! Thanks for doing this!
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
July 30, 2014 at 1:47 pm #916731I’ll be sending you pics of 3 GB Colts from the latest batch. The only issue with my e-mail account is, I can only send so many pics at a time. COX only allows me to send 5 pics per e-mail, which is silly. I figured it best to send a separate e-mail for each Colt. I want to take better pics of “Hollybug” too.
July 30, 2014 at 4:58 pm #916740That’s completely fine with me Pheonixxfox! 🙂
And just as a reminder for the future – there is no cut off date for submitting images to any of the galleries! You are more than welcome to send me images for past batches of any gallery that you see in my signature 🙂

Cool beans, I’m going to rephotograph all of them in more natural light. It can be kind of hard for me since I live in an apartment complex. Luckily, I am upstairs and I do have a balcony. The downside, it gets hit directly with sunlight for a good chunk of the day…:
July 30, 2014 at 7:12 pm #916757I sent pics of both GB Colts that I own. I’ll have to do a photo shot with Rodney’s GB Colt tomorrow. Hope the weather is just as nice…:D

I am looking forward to seeing them all in one place (I just like to stare and drool, lol!) – If I miss it, let me know if you do one for foxes 🙂 I’ll send a photo of mine to ya 😀PS. Might just be my pc being obnoxious? but the photo of the dragon on your signature line is glitched out?

What’s it doing? It looks fine on my screen, but it could be the browser I am using is fixing whatever I screwed up automatically too.
I am not sure if I am doing a Fox directory or not – I didn’t get my hands on one so I am naturally less inclined to >< does that sound terrible?
I'd be fine doing one too! It would just likely take a bit to get it all together 🙂Commission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.

That’s what it looks like on mine.. Maybe my browser/pc? Who knows, you know how tech works for me, lol!Foxes would certainly be a small directory! I just love seeing all the gb’s! I sit and drool and dream of my perfect collection, it’s sort of awful, lol! But it is up to you, maybe too few would show up to be worth it?

We’ll see about the Foxes – I haven’t gotten many images for the colts yet, and they were fairly popular! If I can’t get a sufficient amount for them, it may not be worth it. But I’ll see in any case 🙂
Thats really weird the signature is doing that ><
