*sigh* Sounds like you have the same problem I do. I have an alpha kitty too why has been picking on one of my oldest for a while now. I try to keep them seperated for most of the day. (one goes in the basement, one upstairs & visa versa a few times a day) but it gets tireing and I feel bad. I haven’t been able to find any soultions and so far it’s just become a way of life now. If you find anything that works be sure to let me know!

I’m sorry your kitty didn’t work out at your parents home though. That stinks.

I agree with Eleu, she sounds like she needs to be in a single-cat home. A shock collar might not be such a bad idea if you can’t find a new home for her; I didn’t know they made them for cats (they tend to be expensive for dogs), but you could give it a try.

All of the articles I’ve read say to use positive reinforcement when training cats. I didn’t find any place online that sold shock collars for cats, so I have to assume they don’t make them for a reason (or several reasons).

Thanks for that link lamortefille. Lots of good info there. I doubt we would try a shock collar. That was frustration talking more than anything. Jasmine is still at my parents house. I got there to pick her up and we got as far as putting her in the crate and in my car, when they changed their mind and want to give it a few more days. They really do like her. 😀

I’m glad they decided to give her some more time. I understand speaking out of frustration about a shock collar; I nearly resorted to one to keep my dogs from barking. We eventually trained them not to bark so much without them.

You’re welcome, copper. I really hope things work out at your parents’ house. My alpha cat settled down after a while, but she still has her moments…*sigh*

She was beautiful, but what you did was best for your other two kitties. I know it’s hard though. *hugs*

She’s such a pretty cat… too bad she’s got lots of ‘tude.

I wish I could help we always just let our kitties deal with their own pecking order (and separate if they looked like they were gonna hurt each other).

Hopefully you find a working solution for all the kitties involved.

Just got an update from my dad about Jasmine. She and Rocky are doing better. Rocky is staying in the house more and Jazz is following him around the house and nobody has died! 😀 (We are talking two alpha kitties here. One older, one younger.) If Rocky continues to mellow out over her, I think this will work. 😀

Oh, that’s great news! Two alpha kitties sorting out dominance? I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near them until they worked things out.

I’m crossing my fingers too. Hope it works out!

It’s so sad when you have to rehome a pet, but sometimes you have to do it to keep peace in your home and your other pets safe. I mean you tried and even rehomed the kitty with your parents. It’s such a pretty cat and it’s too bad you have to give it up. Sounds like this kitty would be better off in a home without other pets–like on here, how many homes would that be?!

Got a call from my dad today saying that he was bringing Jazz home. Seems she and Rocky got in a big fight. Don’t know who started it. I’m guessing Rocky got tired of her following him all over the place. They’re ok. The only one that got hurt was my dad breaking it up. He’s ok too. So, she’s home, and the boys are not happy. Leo spotted her first and spent a while stalking her. When Greykin finally saw her you’d have thought he’d never seen her before. He ended up smacking her a few times. Maybe if the boys be a little more assertive, she’ll mellow out some. One can hope. We’ll see how it goes. If I can just get her to quit harassing Leo, we would be fine.

I’m sorry Jazz didn’t work out with your parents. I hope your cats can learn to get along.
