Ok… going on my bi-monthly Gargoyles rant here! π
Here’s a new interview with Greg Weisman… the CREATOR of Gargoyles!
http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=9921
In it he discusses his new project… a new Animated Spider-man series… If he’s behind the writing… I just might watch!
Further down… he discusses the difficulties with Gargoyles… why it took so long for Issue #2 (it was Disney’s fault! No surprise! they have to give the final ok and sign off on the comic… Same with #3… which SHOULD be out soon! WOOT!) AND… they are going to start a SPIN-OFF series soon!!! Can’t quite tell what it will be about… but I don’t care… it’s GARGOYLES related and that’s enough for me!!!
And… ::climbs up on her soapbox:: π π
I cant’ STRESS it enough!!! SPREAD the word!!! BUY SEASON 1 and the first half of SEASON 2!!!!
It is the ONLY way to see the second half of season two is to BUY the DVDs and drive up sales!!!
SPREAD the word!!
If you tell your friends and everyone you know to go out and BUY the Gargoyles DVDs… and drive the sales up… THEN Disney will release the second half of the secodn season….
I just can’t believe that little known… cruddy Cartoons like He-Man…. Dungeons and Dragons… and other random 80s gunk is being released on DVD and they WON’T release Gargoyles just to give us closure!!!
BLASTED Disney!!! πΏ πΏ πΏ
Anyway… check it out! π π π
March 15, 2007 at 6:49 pm #490126March 15, 2007 at 7:28 pm #551973Yeah, I saw this in Stephanie Lostimolo’s journal- and want to get the comics, but can only find one place that sells them, and they charge $8 shipping. For comic books! What the heck!
Edit: I just looked at Slave Labor’s page again and the shipping is more reasonable. Though I do have a beef with them for not paying artists.
I have both DVDs πVolunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
My art: featherdust.comMarch 15, 2007 at 7:39 pm #551974I have been desperately waiting for the 2nd part of the season 2. What’s the hold-up!!!??? I have become very dis-enchanted with Disney over the past 10 years due to their business practices. It seems like they have no committment to anything except a quick buck and their shareholders.

We’ve got the Season 1 set. Been meaning to have get Season 2 part 1, but that requires money.
Have to disagree slightly with the part I bolded. He-Man, She-Ra and Dungeons and Dragons are three series I have been waiting to come out on DVD for years! They were such a HUGE part of my childhood along with Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony, Transformers, M.A.S.K., Go-Bots, Thunder-Cats and many other series. (Can you tell I had an older brother?) I don’t ever remember seeing the end of DnD and now that I own it I can watch it at my leisure and introduce my son to it as well.
So many of the 1980’s and early to mid 1990’s cartoons are better than what’s on tv now that I want to get them just so my son can watch them.

Hey…..I like those…..I even have the Zelda cartoon they had for a little while! =P
I’ll look into Gargoyles tho, that was a really good show, up there with Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Tail Spin, and Rescue Rangers! LoL

Haha, I use to watch Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers, TMNT, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Smurfs, and probably a lot of others I missed. Those were the good old days. πMarch 15, 2007 at 10:20 pm #551978Anyone remember the Wuzzles??
And Popples??
March 15, 2007 at 10:22 pm #551979Yep, I remember those also.
March 15, 2007 at 11:53 pm #551980Haha, the Wuzzles were awesome. And I think I still have a Popple stuffed animal in my parent’s garage XD
Also, I’m a huge fan of Gargoyles, but I hate those half season DVD sets! aghh
March 16, 2007 at 1:03 am #551981Ok ok… I grew up with He-Man… She-RA etc.. too… They aren’t crap… π But compared to Gargoyles, IMHO they are! π
Honestly I just couldn’t come up with names of all of the crappy animated DVDs that have come out lately… so I plugged them in.
Seriously though… walk down the Kid’s DVDs… or the TV series DVDs at Best Buy and LOOK at the stuff they are releasing…. ::sighs::
Though honestly… why Disney will systematically release Ducktales, Rescue Rangers, Tailspin… etc… and NOT give us HALF of the season of Gargoyles… is TOTALLY beyond me!!!

I know I know… I do too…
But we won’t see the rest if everyone has that mentality and leaves them on the shelves. π

Gargoyles isn’t the only older cartoon they do the half season boxed sets with (he-man, she-ra, t-cats, gi joe, transformers to name a few). Drives me insane. I think they just do it to get more money out of the consumer.
March 16, 2007 at 1:13 am #551984Well and look at the Avatar series….
They release the season in 5 SINGLE discs… and at the end of the year they release a BOXED set!
They did that with Season 1… I got 4 discs in before they announced the box set… I was so pissed I bought all of those DVDs…
and now they’re doing the SAME THING with season 2… but at least this time I KNOW they’ll release a boxed set at the end of year…
Though the really evil thing is they are including an exlusive comic with the single season 2 discs… and no clue if they are releasing that with the box set… evil marketing geniouses!!
March 16, 2007 at 2:43 am #551985I remember reading a bunch of online stories written for Gargoyles, and spin offs, like on the Phoenix Gate. Gargoyles I adored! A few of us from my dojo joked about going to Gathering of the Gargoyles some year if it was nearby, just because we could π I even made a big clay Bronx so I had my own π
Hehe… I have several popples and wuzzles, carebears (the originals), a strawberry shortcake (still blows strawberry smelling kisses). I have LOADS of my little ponies (most of the first 4-5 years, including most of the buildings). My brother has an Optimus Prime (I think he has the box still). I remember waking up in the early morning to watch Rainbow Brite and Dukes of Hazzard (the movie sucked and was a bit amiss from the original series). DnD, Gummi Bears, TMNT (the new ones aren’t as good), Darkwing Duck, TailSpin, Voltron, etc. were all great!
I think I still have Glo Worm and Friends Christmas, He-Man and She-Ra Christmas, just to name a few on VHS! Dinosaucers and Denver the Last Dinosaur I still remember (corny as that show was, but I remember the theme song). A lot of shows now seem to be forgoing good theme songs, even on prime time shows. Execs don’t feel it’s that important any more π
I agree… a lot of the cartoons out now seem to lack a lot of what the cartoons from the ’80s and ’90s had. Avatar, and a lot of the Anime (though a lot of it isn’t necessarily something a 5 year old could watch) is great. Things like Spongebob just seem to be dumbed down or something. I can’t bring myself to watch stuff like that. At least the older stuff is coming out on DVD now. Last Unicorn is out and I just found the old Beauty and the Beast tv show with Ron Pearlman and Linda Hamilton. Found Dinosaurs too! “Not the Mama!” π
