I figured everyone here would understand this….

The water heater in the attic busted…I thought it was stupid that the house had the water heater there…no major damage, but hubby refused to call a plumber…two days without hot water….

Well, after an entire day, me pulling the makeshift winch (made from my husband’s truck tow strap and a car trailer tie down strap) and draging the old water heater down, all the way across the attic from the access. Then lowering it down on a rigged up winch. Then me in the attic pulling the tow strap winch and him pushing the new water heater up…then wrestling the new one over the elevated living room ceiling, so we had to pick it up over the step up…its finally installed.

Now, my arms are bruised, my back hurts, I have a drag strip and road race event that I have to be at in the morning for charity, for the Viper Club, since I am the event coordinator…have to go….

So he checks it…and it is leaking from the fittings which are welded on….so now at 9pm on Saturday the Emergency plumber can’t come till Monday. So all said, It’s me who has to cancel patient’s on a busy Monday and get a damnned plumber.

The whole thing is so stupid, because I could have called a plumber last week….but my husband the man who spends enormous amounts on restoring old cars…refused to call any friends for help and was too cheap to get a plumber.

Sorry, just had to rant somewhere. Well, I am gonna pay for a plumber!!!!! And I am not gonna even get an estimate….I am gonna tell them to charge whatever they want. I want hot water….

It’s not leaking bad, so the plan til Monday is he goes up, turns it on for an hour so we can bath, then turns it and the water off. So I can’t run the dishwasher or do warm water laundry (with a week’s worth of laundry backed up) UGGGGHHHHH!

You’re in the Viper club?! =0 That is so cool. I remember I was in the Dodge dealership once, and they had a brochure or a magazine on it that I looked at while waiting. But I can’t remember the last time I saw a Viper in real life. Dodge still makes them, right?

Good luck with your plumbing problems. o_o

I can Sympathize. It really Sucks when the water heater breaks. Ours did it on my bithday a few years ago and flooded the basement (and my room) with icy water. I can’t imagine having a water heater in the attic 😯

Good luck with the plumber and the Race!

I’m so sorry! Being without hot water is a pain. A hot water heater in the attic!? Good luck with the race!

Last summer when there was some repair work being done to my house I came home to no hot water. Turns out the workmen kept josteling the earthquake shut off valve on the gas line. It took a visit from the gas company repairman to figure it out.

It’s just ironic how my hubby will spend money on the cars, but insists on doing his own plumbing…hehehe

Yeah, they still make the Viper. Mine is a 2006, 2008 has a bit more horsepower and a different hood. Otherwise it is the same.

Here is a picture of me at Viperdays last year…well off to the track…

Sorry about your water heater…Those things can be a pain πŸ˜› …The heater not the hubby…Well, sometimes they both can be! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜†

                Gotta admit I can’t feel your pain. I prefer cold water over hot anyways so if something similar happened to me it would hardly bother me. ^_^;

Heehee, you dressed to match your car! It looks frickin’ cold there, though! And wow, look at those high-tops. I had some red high-tops when I was in grade school. Man I loved those shoes. The 80s were awesome. XD

Kick Rudy in the butt. What is it that guys will spend so much money on cars, but not ask someone to do things like plumbing? My dad does all that stuff, but if it’s beyond him, or if can’t get the tools to do it himself, he’ll call for assistance. My other brothers… they have to call for assistance (usually from dad), but they like to try and fiddle first (even when they are in over their heads).

                    Good luck at the track!

Kitsunelady, I can tell you that car is fun to be a passenger in πŸ˜€

You have my sympathy about no hot water when the hurricanes went thru FL in 2004 and 2005 I was without electricity – which meant no hot water for 9 days the first time 2 days the second time and 5 days the third time so I can symphatize
