Gah! I can’t believe I missed this thread until now >< I've gotten the same type of virus before and it's INCREDIBLY annoying!! But yes, Malwarebytes is seriously awesome for fixing malware like that 🙂

As far as Antivirus programs, I must say that after 3+ years of Norton Antivirus, I've quit! Although I always kept my Norton up to date, that stupid crappy program never caught ANYTHING that ever made it on my computer and was less than helpful getting anything off. I’m sure it blocked and quarantined lots of things I didn’t notice, but I don’t pay an arm and a leg every year to STILL get viruses.

The thing with viruses is that unfortunately it’s the newest ones that do the most damage. 99% of the viruses out there will easily get taken out by any antivirus you have, but it’s that stinky 1% that have most recently been created that antivirus programs don’t yet have the updates for. This is why it’s so crucial to update your antivirus software regularly!

Anyway, once my most recent Norton subscription ran out I was appalled to see that they do not give you ANY coverage once that subscription is up. The program literally shuts down and stops checking for anything. I can understand not allowing you to get any updates, but completely shutting down? Hell no. I had enough of them after seeing that.

I got CA antivirus right after that and although it seemed to work well, when I tried to uninstall it – get this – something messed up and it SHUT DOWN MY INTERNET. Seriously blocked the internet from my computer. Everywhere else in my house it worked just fine but because I decided to uninstall the stupid thing and it errored, it did something weird to my internet connection, not allowing anything through. It took my father 3 days straight of calling tech support and trying his own fixes to get it working – and trust me when I say my dad is the ultimate computer nerd. It was ridiculous!

Anyway, now I’ve switched to Avast! because I’ve heard nothing but good things from them, and the software is hardly noticable once it’s on your computer. It automatically updates in the background without demanding computer restarts and I’ve just been very happy with it so far 🙂

I’ve rambled enough! I’m really glad you got your computer working again drag0n!!

      LOL! No worries Hannah! ^_^

Thanks everyone so much for the info. It’s running like brand new EXCEPT… really weird, but every time I turn on the computer I have to reset my wall paper. Even when it just goes into hibernation, the wallpaper freaks out???? I don’t know why???

Did you ever figure out a fix for this weird issue drag0n? I’ve never encountered anything like that before – its so weird!! The first thing that comes to mind is maybe something’s up with your video card (needs new drivers or something)?

Also – your desktop is SO CLEAN!! Mine has a ton of folders, old programs, shortcuts, image files, other folders that contain more folders that used to be on my desktop, etc.. 😀
