I agree with Serenity. I don’t forward either.

hmmm….never heard of Snopes before…now I’m reading all the weird articles. Did you know that Jell-O brand gelatin is made from boiling the bones and hides of cows and pigs?? 😮

Yeah, I read that as a little kid in an “answers to everything” book and faithfully retained the fact. 😆

              All gelatin sure is! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelatin

We all eat a lot of it and never even realize it. They use it in pharmaceuticals too, as the outer covering on capsule type pills.

A lot of cosmetics use gelatin as well.

Lots of candy has gelatin in it. Marshmellows, any sort of gummy candy..

It is also used in things like ice cream, cream cheese, margarine, apple juice, jellies and jams… Lots of things. You probably eat gelatin often and don’t even realize it! 😉

It’s amazing how far removed most people are from the foods they eat!

Why is it gross to eat the proteins from bones and hide, but not gross to eat the proteins from muscle mass?

Exactly. It’s a lot more natural than some other things we eat…

I was wondering what’s wrong with eating boiled bones…. *shrugs* At least it’s not being really wasteful (and I just *COULDN’T* give up my grandmother’s crab-apple jelly…. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)

I wouldn’t say there’s anything wrong with it. If we can use every part of an animal, we’re doing good.

GB, you and I would get along well. 🙂

That’s the beauty of different tastes and diverse diets…I can skip the Jell-o with a clean conscience. 😉
