So I have 3 kitties. One (Goblin, a Russian Blue) is my kitty. She came first, and she’s older. Then there are the other two: Chloe and Sunshine. They are young (about 2 years old) brother and sister, tabby American shorthairs (details for those of you who need a face with a name like me lol) Chloe and Sunshine were adopted by me and my boyfriend about a year ago. They chewed up a snake skin he was saving, and so they also became “my” cats.

The problem is that Goblin doesn’t get along with Chloe and Sunshine, so we keep them in our garage (dont worry, its air conditioned) when Goblin is out and about, and then we have to put her in my mother’s room to let the other two into the house. If I am holding Goblin, and she catches a glance of either cat, even if they are on the other side of the room, she tenses up and hisses. To her, that is THEIR territory. The other two dont seem bothered by her. They look curiously at her. “Why ya hissin at me, sistah?”

BUT if I bring Chloe or Sunshine into my mother’s room, they are only mildly bothered, and Goblin doesnt seem to mind them too much. The most she will do is walk away. Ive tried introducing them through doors, and then through a glass door so they could see and smell eachother but not get at each other., but it didn’t seem to work as well as I had hoped.

I am about to move and would love it if all my kitties could at least ignore each other. They dont have to like one another! I was planning on bringing Goblin first and letting her decide that is her territory for about a month or 3 weeks before bringing Chloe and Sunshine.

Is this a bad idea? Since the new place is neutral for all of them, should I bring all 3 at once? That show on Animal Planet “Its Me Or the Dog” is really helpful for dealing with doggie behavior, but those ideas don’t always apply to felines! has anyone had success living harmoniously with a mixed crowd?

My parents had three cats that hated each other… but it was a big house so they could get away from each other.

i have five cats… four spayed females and one non-neutered male. yeah… no one gets along too well here 😳 but they figure it out and have their own spaces. and when they cross each other’s borders, well, i just have to clean up cat pee. oh well they all have a happy and loving home

My friend has an older female cat about 9 years old, one male of about 7, and her son has a younger female of 6 years.
The two females never got along. they hiss when they meet by the door or cross path somewhere in the house but monique and Yves still decided to keep them all. The house has a basement so when one of the females isn’t happy she just goes and sulk downstairs.

My Sienna still hisses at Merlin but she’s coming along. He can sleep right agains her and she’ll tolerate it. But he can’t play with her. I had them seperated for 2 weeks before I set him loose in the house. During that time they were introduced several times with the bathroom door ajar and I would hold the kitty. I would also present his rear for her to sniff before she would turn and hiss away.
