Dark hair and blue eyes are my favorite!
May 27, 2008 at 5:41 am #708136He’s very pretty, especially with those blue eyes.
May 27, 2008 at 12:35 pm #708137What a cute little face, I LOVE those eyes!
May 27, 2008 at 2:07 pm #708138I am in love with that crested neck and shoulder.
His topline looks like the perfect bareback ride.
What’s his height again?
May 27, 2008 at 2:33 pm #708139I know. I love his cresttiness. Now I just have to figure out how to get him a bigger butt!
I’ve been working him on hills, but he’s only 3 so not a whole lot can be done yet riding wise.
The best thing about him is his character. He just makes you smile when you see him!May 27, 2008 at 2:40 pm #708140He’s beautiful! He looks so chipper 🙂 I’ll bet he knows he makes everyone smile. 😆

😆 I get that reaction a lot!
I’m hoping his offspring has that same pizazz! I’ve had so many offers to buy him, but I can’t. He’s my boy!May 27, 2008 at 7:54 pm #708145Phoenix wrote:I know. I love his cresttiness. Now I just have to figure out how to get him a bigger butt!

The best thing about him is his character. He just makes you smile when you see him!Have you considered training him to drive? That can be done earlier than training under saddle. Driving will build his hindquarter muscles pretty quick because they have to use their butt more. It’ll also teach them better balance and coordination. Best of all, you can get the youngsters out into the wide world earlier. The horse by design is a draft animal–they can safely pull loads much heavier than they can carry. Driving is easier on their legs and feet. Traditionally, young horses were trained to drive first, then trained under saddle at about the age of 4 or 5. I routinely teach my horses to drive young. Right now I’m working with my 2 year old. She’s learning to long line and ground drive. I don’t do anything that’ll stress her legs and I keep the sessions relatively short since as a 2 yo, she has the attention span of a gnat. 😉 But once she understands that whole ground driving thing, I’ll start ground driving her out on the trails by the house. So by the time she is ready to be trained under saddle, the trails won’t be so scary.
May 27, 2008 at 10:49 pm #708146Yay Frodo!!!! He’s the best!! 😀
May 27, 2008 at 10:56 pm #708147I have a cart, I just need to start ground driving. I have to dig my surcingle and long lines out. It’s bad being lazy 😆
I’ve only met one person who doesn’t like Frodo. She a die hard Welsh breeder. Hates blue eyes on ponies. That with his splash markings, she just doesn’t think he’s stallion material. I can see what she’s saying, but in a breed where splash is so prevalent, how can you say it’s a fault?
Frodo is out of a solid buckskin and a bay stallion with minimal white. The stallion constantly throws splash. I don’t see how you can mark Frodo down and not the stallion siring the splash babies.
Ah. To each his own. EVERYONE loves Frodo! 😆May 27, 2008 at 11:59 pm #708148So he is a Welsh pony??? (Either way he is beautiful!!!) Can I draw him?
May 28, 2008 at 12:01 am #708149Aaaaaw! He’s just darling, ain’t he? You’re right to be proud!
