Just something to keep in mind!
We have all had our bad run-ins on eBay and especially lately that Windstone’s official auctions have had some fraudulent bidding going on.
It is always safe to be wary when dealing with eBay and sellers/bidders you don’t know. There are a terrible number of people out there that do like to scam!
However, unless you have a valid reason (i.e. they are a known scammer or there is proof they have conned someone) please keep things civil here, on our VERY public forums. What you say and do in private is your business but here, anyone can read what you say. That’s potentially millions of people! Though realistically we will mostly see Windstone collectors and those interested in Windstone visiting here. All the more to put a good face on… Windstone needs all the collectors it can get right now to be able to keep producing the things you treasure- it’d be terrible if anyone inadvertently drove someone away!!
There have been in the past some joking about what mean things we might do to a scammer etc. Now, honestly, I hate being politically correct as much as the next person. I think that in general society is way too easy to offend when we mean no harm. However, things like this really can’t continue- all it takes is one person to take it the wrong way and someone can be facing charges for making ‘threats’. I know it’s totally silly but it has happened before online when people have joked, and it’s a serious issue.
If you have something factual to say and it’s not nice- “joesmith on eBay has ripped people off before, I’d advise against doing business with him”- that’s fine. But please keep nonfactual speculations and especially bashing to a minimum.
All political correctness aside, we really want to be a welcoming group here. We have had this happen several times- we are very fortunate that nirvanacat thought it was funny when some of the members were saying how much they hated her! 😉 It also happened recently when a new member joined and again we are fortunate they are forgiving and understanding. Remember that new members are not going to be able to read everything in context, either. Your joke could be totally misinterpreted. :/ Remember that tone is very hard to tell when reading text on a screen… it’s hard to tell if someone is saying something with a laugh and a smile on their face, or if they are trying to be a jerk. Smilies 🙂 😉 😀 can really help set the tone for what you are trying to say, and can help show if you are being silly 😆 or sad 🙁 , but they should never replace common curteousy.
It’s so easy to get frustrated on eBay… after all we are dealing with trying to get things that we love, and our hard earned money paying for them at the same time. You are allowed to vent but please keep bashing, name calling, and threats (even if joking) out of the forum. If you really want to blow some steam and need an ear, my Private Messages or email is always open. 🙂

Oh yes!! As long as you are doing it with friends (and they are friend back with you! :lol:) I don’t see any problem! I really just meant with people we don’t know. It’s easy to pick on a ‘faceless enemy’ until suddenly they show up on your doorstop! 😉

Thanks for posting this Nam sometimes we have all gotten so comfortable with eachother that we forget that new poeple may not understand how we treat eachother and saying somehing to Dm or Ski will make them laugh since we know it’s in jest but new people will not know how much of a famly we have become. I almost left the Foruma couple times at a few things that where said but I got over it and just like a bad penny I keep coming back and you can’t get rid of me!!! I don’t think that anyone is innocent of opening their mouth before they thought about it at some point of life or another- nothing to feel bad about. Just wanted everyone to keep this in mind for the future. 🙂

I’m not sure where the phrase came from but I heard it MANY years ago and it stuck with me. I don’t even really know what it means??
