When I went in to get my girls up this morning there was a large (a little smaller than my hand) spot of blood on the sheets of Aurora’s (my youngest) crib. I checked every centimeter of her body for cuts or wounds….Her diaper was pretty clean even, just pee. She thought it was some great game, I checked in her ears, her nose, in her mouth….nothing….The best guess we have is that she may have spit up blood in the night…but we cant be sure. I checked to see if she was feeling any discomfort but she seems fine, her usual perky self….But finding blood in your babies crib will freak any momma out…I’m not really sure what to do next…The only things we put in her crib with her is her blanket and a small stuffed bear, neither of which have any detachable or sharp parts…oh, I’m soooo worried…. 😯

Geee…that is scary…are you gonna get her checked out by a doctor? Can’t be too careful. It’s great though that she seems to be doing fine….still a scary mystery… 😯 😕

I’m not sure….My husband says we should just watch her, she’s acting perfectly normal but that blood in her crib has really got me frightened…I may end up taking her yet, I’m worried she might have accidentally eaten a toy part or something, but I can’t imagine what. 😯

Oh, that would be scary. I hope everything is alright.

            That’s really weird, actually…

No cats in the house that could have been the culprit?

I would watch her like a hawk and get her checked. Better to go and have the doctor find nothing than not go and always be wondering if you should have.

I second that! Take her to the doctor! It could be anything and it could be nothing! Is She Teething? I want to say that one of mine did that to me… and I think that she was teething. Scared the holy POO out of me too! Baby, crib, blood… those 3 things JUST DON’T MIX for mommas!
Take her to the doctor to put your mind at ease!

Oh man! Please keep us informed!

Idiot doctors…they just looked her over and said, “She looks fine to me. You probably mistook a little poo for blood.” EXCUSE ME!!!! I’m not an idiot and I know what blood looks like! I can’t believe I just paid $65 cash to be told I’m an idiot by some schmuck who just wanted to get me out of the way. 👿 👿 I very nearly had to be kicked out after telling the doctor that….
The door to the girl’s room is kept closed at night so other than the two babies (they share a room) no one else was there….the cribs are separated by the changing table so Vivacia couldn’t have reached Aurora under any circumstances…Since Aurora is just shy of 1 year old it’s always a possibility that she’s teething, but I checked her gums…they’re fine too.

Seconded! What an utter moron. Well… I’d say keep an extra-close eye on her and if the slightest thing looks off in her normal behavior, take her somewhere else. Sometimes a persistent mother who “doesn’t know anything” will discover an issue that the doctors, in all their infinite knowledge, just pass off.

I dislike doctors… They sure do spend a lot of time in college to make guesses… one once told me “At least they are educated guesses.” Whatever!

                  Keep an eye on her…

*Hugs* Was it a lot of blood or just a drop? I used to get nose bleeds in my sleep so there would be a drop or two when my mom woke me up. Took them a while to figure out that I needed a humidifier in the room. If you’re that worried, and I know I would be, a second opinion is always good.

Sorry to hear that. I hope after you watch her then you find nothing wrong. That is really scarry.

It was a rather large spot, at least a few teaspoons worth of blood…the amount of blood is the biggest reason why I’m worried.

Was it just on the sheet or soaked through deep into the mattress? I could take a 3cc syringe full of blood and make it look like several tablespoons. Even to my own eye.

I’m sort of in the nosebleed camp. I bled all over my pillow in the middle of the night once. It looked horrid, but I’m obviously OK!

I hope that’s all it turns out to be!
