“Guys… guys, I’m stuck here! Why did you tell me to put my tongue on the frozen metal?”
Incidentally, I also had a bunch of goldfinches on my feeder today!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I wish I could see the redpolls again, I really miss those. 🙁
December 31, 2008 at 3:35 am #748217Something out of A Christmas Story would be great. It reminds me of the double-dog-dare-you scene, where that kid gets his tongue frozen to the flagpole.
December 31, 2008 at 5:48 am #748218To me, it looks like the top finch is hollering down to the bottom finch through the feeder. Is the bird’s tongue actually stuck?

Oh I didn’t see it that way but now that you mention it… 😆
No his thongue is not stuck but he just happen to stick it out at the right moment I was pressing on the chutter button. XDDecember 31, 2008 at 11:05 am #748221Hehe, cute pic. My first thought was along the lines of having its tongue stuck too, with the snow on the ground and all (and his positioning, which looks a bit like he’s trying to pull away). Which, I must say, is really an unpleasant experience :shudders:
Never leave a curious preschooler outside alone when you’ve allowed her to watch A Christmas Story with her older brother, who of course thought it funny to tell her that kind of thing wouldn’t ever happen… Though he was much more careful what kind of lies he told me after that.December 31, 2008 at 11:07 am #748222Barrdwing wrote:Something out of A Christmas Story would be great. I TRIPLE-dog-dare ya!
(“Schwartz created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat!”)

Hehe no it’d be exceedingly rare if they got stuck. They don’t have lots of saliva the way us mammals do. 🙂 Bird mouths are fairly dry.
