Cleaning out the office area today I found some very, VERY old windstones. Four hatching dragons (they have tongues!), a lion, and an old cat. Melody says they were probably some of the first ever painted.

A tongue! That’s what that is! My green hatcher has one too, I think! And he’s got no felt pad, and no stamp. I’ve always wondered what that bit was on his chin…I thought it was a bump from casting.

Very neat pictures, thanks for sharing!

I wish it showed better in the pics, but the yellow eyes on the hatchers are really more of a golden yellow in real life. They are not at all as washed out as in the photos. And the lion’s eyes are much more amber.

These guys are going into the archive.

And for those who have never seen an old lion in person, he is about the same length as a lap dragon.

                        What a lovely find! 😯

Oh, that’s good to know on the size. I was about to ask that. Helps to know what to look for when checking out estate and garage sales! Thanks for sharing the pics btw! It is interesting to see some of the early stuff as compared to what is ‘newer’ by comparison. 😀

                            I like the lion.

Wow! What a great find! Thanks for sharing. I really like the kitty and the lion. The lion looks like he needs a lamb lying (laying?) next to him. 😉

Melody says she thinks the lion and some of the others in that group were actually painted with watercolor! Which looks about right, especially on the lion.. We have another lion in archive that is slightly newer, and painted with acrylic. It looks more like the one in the Astral Castle Encyclopedia.
