Found a new Guinea friend

A baby guinea pig adopted me today. She licked my hand and tried to climb onto it. I didn’t plan this at all; we went to the pet and garden center to get my mother some pond plants. I just realized that come the 1st of July it will be a year to the day since I lost Virgil, my little pinto. *sigh*

The new kid is awfully sweet, though. She’s reddish-brown and black, with a white zigzag stripe up her shoulder. Rosette fur swirls. Missing an ear. Very personable little gal. Did I mention she’s missing an EAR? No one at the shop could tell me what happened, but it’s obviously been bitten or ripped. Entirely healed, though, so it must have happened almost as soon as she was born.

I’ll take a pic or two of little Cicero (aka Cissy) once she settles in with Dante, her big (very big) sister 🙂

Here are some pics of her. In the second one you can clearly see her lack of left ear. And Nikko is really enjoying watching her… “Oh, hey, your new piggy is about the same size as that vole I offed in the garden last week. Yep. Totally.”

Thanks, everyone 🙂 She’s letting me hold her today, for little bits at a time. Then she gets twitchy. Dante is treating her well and doing okay with the big sister role, despite the fact that this baby piggie is literally the size of a small orange and Dante is the size of… well, a middle-grade loaf pan.
