That is crazy! I love stuff like that. My children and I go to a fossil museum and shark tooth dig pile every couple months. The amount of teeth and size are huge and we never tire of looking at the fossils.

That is so cool. Fruita, in western Colorado has a great dinosaur museum. I’ve been to it a few times but I don’t recall them having any mammoth or camel fossils.
I’m always so fascinated by the thought of them maybe using DNA to bring back a mammoth. Not to sure I want the T-Rex running around again though lol.Looking for:

I used to ‘pan’ for fossil Shark teeth at Calvert Cliffs, here in MD on the Chesapeake Bay, when I was younger and when you were able to comb the beech. We can’t do that anymore because of erosion & safety concerns – the beeches are restricted now.IN SEARCH OF MY NEXT GRAILS:

We can’t do that anymore because of erosion & safety concerns – the beeches are restricted now.Really local Maryland info. 🙂 You can still hunt for shark teeth at Flag Ponds Park (Calvert County park north of the power plant). The beach is building there so you’re not right next to the cliffs. It’s about a 1/2 mile walk to the beach from the parking lot.

Fellow Maryland shark tooth hunter, here! Purse State Park in southern Maryland is a neat little spot to go screening. The teeth are pretty small but they are plentiful! And there’s a spot called Brownie’s Beach in Chesapeake Beach, I believe it’s a town park, where you can either screen for teeth or simply spread out on the sand and pick teeny tiny ones out along the shore. In both places, going along the cliffs is both dangerous and not permitted.
And Melody, thanks for the story about OSU! Shame they have to let the archaeologists have all of the fun, there are plenty of paleontologists out that way that would probably love to see the site. At least students get in on the work though, what a great opportunity to play a role in the school’s history 🙂 And very nice that the construction crew gets due credit for not plowing under the find, too!

Too cool! The most I’ve ever found were fossil shells around the Great Lakes (along with loads of iron filings), some small shark teeth on the beach at St. Augustine and a few spear heads locally.
The mammoth, bison and camel fossils are awesome finds! I wonder if the bones settled there after the animals died or if the animals were traveling as a group….
